• Perseus Mining is a dual listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. 
• Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana. 
• Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz.
• The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 7.9Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,OOOoz gold per annum. 

Job Description

The OH&S Manager, reporting to the General Manager, will co-ordinate all Occupational Health and Safety activities of the OH&S at Perseus (Ghana) Limited, Edikan Gold Mine near Ayanfuri.

The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-

• Giving forceful direction and guidance to the site to ensure every employee return home the same way in which they came to work
• Driving cultural change within the workplace which aims at ensuring employees, the company and contractors understand their responsibilities with respect to occupational health hygiene and safety
• Ensuring that all regulatory requirements with respect to safety at the mine are met through developing systems and procedures which departmental managers are charged with applying as well as directly managing aspects of these
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the General Manager 

Required Skills or Experience

• The successful applicant must possess a formal qualification in Occupational Health and Safety management and qualifications in workplace training and assessing and at least 15 years experience on operational mine site, or 10 years in mine site roles, preferably 5 years in managerial or Superintendent role
• Exposure to managing sub-contractor safety on operating sites, understanding of safety management systems and their practical application and experience in implementing safety management system initiatives is desirable
