Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
The Heavy Mining Equipment Department of Tarkwa Gold Mine is seeking to employ a dedicated, experienced and self motivated individual to fill the position of Artisan III HMR Mechanic. The incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring the application of knowledge and experience to maintain heavy mining equipment tray and bucket in a responsible, safe, efficient and effective manner for high equipment availability and reliability, while ensuring that management systems, policies, procedures and standards are adhered to.

Key responsibilities:-

• Execute daily routine work strictly according to Procedures and Standards
• Maintain a comprehensive record/file of applicable standards and procedures
• Undertake daily routine fault tracing and maintenance of machines
• Undertake maintenance in a timely manner to meet targets
• Encourage inputs from the workgroups which lead to continuous improvement
• Suggest improved ways of performing tasks
• Carrying out responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner ensuring compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 requirements
• Ensure effective use of PPE according to standard procedures
• Identify and provide full reports on risks and hazards
• Responsible for own safety and that of others
• Ensure that areas of responsibility are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping

Required Skills or Experience

• A minimum of a tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent
• Around (3) years experience in Caterpillar heavy equipment maintenance
• Experienced in safe lifting practices
• Ability to work for long hours to obtain the required results
• Well developed oral and written communication skills
• Medical fitness for the position and environment
• A valid Ghanaian drivers' license
