Job Description
- The successful candidate would be required to provide reference service to internal and external researchers by providing access, interpreting, finding aids, process and preserve records in accordance with modern archival principles and standards.
- Research, plan, develop and implement long and short term goals for the archive and records storage and indexing solutions
- Develop databases and information access systems and research new technologies, automation and new software and hardware for the archives and records Unit of the Service, as needed
Required Skills or Experience
- A good first degree in History or Library Science with emphasis in archival science from a recognized Institution. A post graduate degree in relevant area would be an added advantage
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
- Excellent oral and written communication and research skills.
Minimum of five (5) experiences in Archives and Records management from the Public Service or Private sector with demonstrated knowledge and competence in the following areas:
- Contemporary archival and records management principles and practices; creating and maintaining databases, preferably Microsoft Access
- Knowledge of descriptive cataloging principles e.g. USMARC format
- Encoded Archival Description (EAD)
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems pertaining to archival methods and procedures
- Automated storage and retrieval systems, electronic publication
- Maintain record keeping systems, including database catalog, EAD-encoded finding aids, acquisition register and indexes
- Ability to continuous seek quality service and process improvement in library services in order to support the vision and mission of the Judicial Service
