Job Description

A premier garment manufacturer in Ghana is currently looking for a seasoned and dedicated Human Resource Officer to join its ur vibrant team.

Job Summary

This role is to superintend over the entire HR function of the organization. This will include but it not limited to job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, talent management and certification.

Duties and Responsibilities

HR Planning and Administration

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital.
  • Maintenance of employees’ file and Records.
  • Manage leave and keep proper records of same.
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization.
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics i.e. Labour turnover, absenteeism.
  • Maintain employee statistics.

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage the recruitment and selection process from advertising, shortlisting, interviewing and practical assessment.
  • Ensure that every employee has an up-to-date contract (both new and existing staff).
  • Design and coordinate new employee induction/ orientation plans.
  • Ensure that new employees have required working tools.
  • Nurture a positive working environment by building strong relations between employees and their managers.
  • Address employee demands, concerns, grievances, and related issues in a fair timely fashion.

Compensation and Benefit

  • Maintain a fair and equitable pay plan and benefits program.
  • Maintain daily employee attendance through the clock-in system and attendance book for salary or wage administration.
  • Submit total employee attendance to the CEO and the Finance and Accounts Department for salary processing at least 3 days before the last working day of the month.
  • Submit proposed salary adjustments for approval in consultation with the Finance and Accounts Department. 

Training and Development

  • Assess training needs of staff through performance appraisals.
  • Conduct knowledge and skill gaps, skill improvement assessment and develop a training program that addresses identified gaps.
  • Monitor and coordinate (i.e. providing resources both material and Human resource) all training programs.
  • Conduct periodic assessments on the impact of training programs on performance.

Performance Management

  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance in accordance with the organization’s Performance Management System (PMS) and Procedures.
  • Ensure all departments design their annual performance targets or objectives with key Performance indicators (KPIs) for management approval in line with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure that staff adhere to all of the organization’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Conduct periodic training on the organization’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Review existing Policies and Procedures and design new ones as may be required. 

Health and Safety

  • Liaise with departments to ensure that employee health and safety issues are addressed in line with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the First Aid and Fire Marshall teams.
  • Ensure that all health and safety records are kept for future decision making.
  • Ensure the timely renewal of insurance for all workers.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A good first degree in Human Resource.
  • Professional Certification in Human Resource will be an advantage.
  • 5-7 years’ work experience.
