Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) is a well-established, African-based, research centre and one of three field research centres of the Research and Development Division of the Ghana Health Service an agency of the Ministry of Health. The work of KHRC has implications for health policy and practice throughout Ghana, Africa and the rest of the world. KHRC is situated in the middle part of Ghana and offers research and training services nationally and internationally and its staffs are multidisciplinary.

Job Description

Applications are invited from qualified applicants for appointment as Grant Manager at Kintampo Health Research Centre, Kintampo, Bono-East Region.

  • Type of Appointment: Full Time Contract.
  • Duration: One (1) year (renewable)

 

Reporting Line

Reporting to the Director, KHRC through the Head of Finance as well as collaborating with the other Finance, Project Managers and Administration team to ensure effective grants management.

Job Description

  • Identifies and maintains research grant sources and disseminates research funding opportunities.
  • Coordinates the setting up of the teams for proposal development and provides pre-award support.
  • Prepares all contracts and portfolios for research, grants and consultancies.
  • Keeps a complete and accurate database of contracts for sub-awards, research, grant and consultancies.
  • Reviews proposals for completeness and compliance with the funders and institution regulations/policies/guidelines procedures as well as administrative and financial reporting requirements of awards.
  • Liaises with principal investigators, subcontractors, sponsored project offices and funding agencies.
  • Prepares policy briefs for engagement with national policy makers.
  • Identifies, coordinates and compiles research business development and strategic research plans of faculty, staff and students

Required Skills or Experience

  • MBA or Masters in a relevant discipline (MBA Accounting, MBA Finance, MBA Finance and Accounting, MSc. Accounting and Finance, MBA Health Services Management , MSc Project Management, MBA, General Management, MA Public Sector Management, MA Management and Administration)
  • Qualification in Project Management, Research Administration or Business Administration will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge in budgeting and grant financing and reporting
  • Experience in sourcing for grants and securing external grants and project funding.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply sponsor, national and institutional policies, regulations, guidelines, practices and procedures on research grants.
  • Ability to manage high volume and complex transactions.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interdisciplinary working skills
  • Good planning, organisational and administrative skills
  • Effective client liaison and ability to build relationships with team members.
