Job Description

There is an opportunity to join the Commercial and Business Development Division as a Commercial and Business Development Analyst

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development Opportunities

  • Frames and assesses new opportunities. Develops Decision Support Packages
  • Performs probabilistic and deterministic economic analysis
  • Supports and participates in commercial negotiations
  • Develops relationships with project sponsors, gas off-takers and shippers
  • Coordinates new shipper(s)

Development & Administration of the WAGP Tariff

  • Supports preparation for Tariff Period Reviews, including development of Designated Tariff Parameters, making of Tariff submissions, dialogue with West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA), WAPCo shareholders and stakeholders
  • Responsible for maintaining and documenting the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) Tariff Model
  • Responsible for administration of tariff, determination of annual adjustments and surcharges, and making notifications to shippers
  • Responsible for providing commercial information for filing of regulatory reports to WAGPA and for coor- dinating periodic discussions
  • Coordinate meeting materials for engagements with the Committee of Ministers

Manage and Operationalize Existing Agreements

  • Work with shippers and interconnecting pipelines to coordinate day to day gas movements and to ensure obligations under Gas Transportation and Interconnect Agreements are satisfied.
  • Monitor credit exposure to shippers and implement payment protocol models as appropriate to mitigate credit risk and ensure timely payment
  • Organize periodic coordination meetings with producers, transporters and shippers so as to address and mit- igate challenges along the value chain
  • Maintain good relations and engage with value chain stakeholders to resolve inquiries in a timely and pro- fessional manner
  • Finalize, implement, and administer the WAGP Network Code

Market Analysis, Business Plan, Scorecard

  • Conduct gas market demand and supply, competing fuels, and delivered cost of gas analysis to inform management
  • Support development and annual approval of the WAPCo Business Plan. Track and report progress versus the Business Plan
  • Coordinate development of the annual WAPCo Scorecard and track progress and results
  • Support development of presentation materials for WAPCo’s Managing Director

Board of Directors & Share Holder Engagements

  • Coordinate and support preparation of materials for quarterly Board of Director meetings
  • Coordinate and support preparation of materials for quarterly Advisory Committee meetings and ad hoc Share Holders Advisory Teams

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business Administration or Economics.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant commercial and business development experience preferably in energy.
  • Experience in pipeline transportation desirable. MBA preferred.
