Job Description

An international financial institution is seeking an exceptional candidate to lead branding and communication for its Ghanaian affiliate.

JOB PURPOSE/ OBJECTIVE
To enhance brand visibility, market share, customer trust, and loyalty through strategic communication initiatives across various channels and events.

POSITION SUMMARY
Your main task is to strategically plan, coordinate, and oversee all branding and communication endeavors for the company. This involves crafting and managing branding materials, as well as arranging internal and external events for the institution.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Head of Branding & Communication will lead a team to develop and execute the company's Branding & Communication Strategy, working closely with the executive team. Responsibilities include creating yearly plans, managing the communication budget, and overseeing a team of Communication Officers. This role involves building a reputable brand image in target markets, ensuring consistent brand identity, and monitoring brand visibility across all materials and premises.
  • In terms of advertising and commercial communication, the Head will craft tailored messages for different customer segments and products/services, create various marketing materials, manage media planning and buying, evaluate campaign impact, and coordinate product launches and promotional activities. They will also maintain relationships with media, suppliers, and stakeholders, write press releases, and manage media libraries.
  • Corporate communication duties involve providing up-to-date information to stakeholders, managing the company's website, representing the company in industry programs, and overseeing 3rd party agencies as needed. Digital and online communication responsibilities include defining social media strategies, managing the company's online presence, deploying search engine advertising strategies, analyzing audience demographics and ROI, and generating new social media content ideas.
  • Organize events and sponsorships that support product/brand objectives, both internally and externally. This includes planning road shows, conferences, and tradeshows, participating in social initiatives to support communities, and maintaining a strong corporate presence.

  • Customer satisfaction and Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Enhancing customer loyalty and retention
  • Engaging customers online
  • Monitoring feedback from all touchpoints and stakeholders
ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES
  • The role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously and collaborating with different departments, partners, and vendors. 
  • There may be weekend work, off-hours commitments, and occasional travel outside Accra. 
  • Additionally, the position contributes to developing Communication policies and budgets with a focus on service improvement and brand enhancement. It requires an understanding of business drivers in a complex market and the ability to remain customer/segment-focused, along with strong organizational and analytical skills.

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum Degree in communication, Marketing, Social Sciences / Humanities, and Arts
  • At least six years of professional experience
  • Demonstrated management experience in communications, public relations, and branding.
  • Experience in Media or with an international communication agency is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a results-driven approach
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
  • Capacity to devise practical solutions tailored to the local environment.
  • Previous experience in team management within an international organization is beneficial (though not mandatory)
