Job Summary
IPA Ghana is seeking individuals with experience in therapy, guidance and counseling to fill the shortterm role of Psychologists / Counsellors. IPA is particularly interested in candidates who can maintain confidentiality, have warmth and empathy, good social skills for maintaining conversation including eye to eye contact, the ability to facilitate groups ensuring all participate, the requisite skills for negotiating a group through conflicts and disagreements, the ability/experience to spot mental health difficulties when signs are present in an individual and ability to call participant aside and help them cope with any difficulties arising within sessions (ie first aid in a crisis). The primary focus is on piloting group-based resilience coaching sessions for teachers. This initiative aims to equip educators with essential skills to effectively manage the substantial demands of their jobs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, counseling, and support services to a group of professionals.
  • Identify individuals who have peculiar stressful and burnout situations that might need specialist attention.
  • Refer cases that need specialist attention to designated specialist units.
  • Provide a comprehensive sessional report on counselling sessions.
  • Carry out any relevant assignments related to the job

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • A master’s degree in clinical psychology and/or Counselling
  • At least 3 years’ experience in counseling/ therapy
  • Must have a pleasant personality and friendly disposition.
  • Must possess good communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Must pay attention to details and can maintain confidentiality
