Job Description

Main Role / Purpose

The Sabre Trust is a development organisation working in close collaboration with the local education authorities in the Central and Western Regions to support the implementation of the Ghana Education Service's plans to scale up quality kindergarten education nationwide. Sabre's Transformational Teacher Training project is an innovative new approach to preparing student teachers for their teaching postings, using a network of model classrooms and mentor teachers.

The employee will be primarily working from an office in Elmina or Sekondi (please indicate which would be preferable in your application). When the employee is required to work from a different office, he/she will be provided with accommodation and any travel costs by the Charity.

Responsibilities:

Managing the monitoring and evaluation for the programme:

  • Support MEL Officers to manage an electronic and physical M&E filing system for each classroom, to include Mentoring Log and Teacher Monitoring Tool (TMT).
  • Support MEL Officers to manage an electronic and physical M&E filing system for each trainer, to include Trainer Monitoring Tool (TrMT).
  • Carry out data entry after each set of field and training data collection ready for analysis.
  • Collate and analyse the attendance data for the programme and collate evaluation forms for Trainers and Trainees for each element of the programme.
  • Support collation and inputting of baseline data at the start of year and comparative data at end of year.
  • Support preparation and planning for field monitoring and training assessment.
  • Undertake the collection of field data as part of the team, to monitor progress of participants on the programme and to monitor implementation of programme-trained newly qualified teachers.
  • Manage the filing system of catalogued photographic evidence of change in KG classrooms, both indoors and outdoors (from pre programme to end programme), best practice and key programme events for reporting.
  • Collate and input data for Pupil Achievement Record data for all of children in each classroom.
  • Collate and input attendance data for pupils alongside over and under age data for each classroom.
  • Attend PTA meetings of KG classes on the programme and support data collection processes with a sample of parents as and when necessary.
  • Support MEL officers with analysis of data as necessary.
  • In addition support other office administration and teacher training activities where necessary.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Some experience in working with statistics.
  • Number of years experience is less important to us than a positive attitude and willingness to be part of the team.
  • A salary and position review will take place after 6 months. Candidates who impress during their Support Officer period will be offered a promotion within the Charity to a more senior position.
