Job Description

KRGL is seeking to employ a qualified person to fill the role below. This is a permanent position with a competitive work roster resident in a single status camp environment. The camp’s facilities include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, Wi-Fi access, laundry service, wet mess, sporting facilities (swimming pool, gym, volleyball/basketball, tennis, pool tables, table soccer, soccer grounds). Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance based incentive payments.

  • This is a challenging and professionally rewarding opportunity that will allow the successful candidate to demonstrate his/her abilities.
  • Reporting to the Manager Processing, the short and medium term focus of the role is to complete the set up and commissioning of the laboratory and to build up the capability to operate it effectively long-term.
  • This will include the design and implementation of systems required for laboratory management, particularly the Management Operating System and coaching key personnel in laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain safety, health and environmental policies and procedures, and ensure to maintain a healthy working environment;
  • Complete management of the laboratory and its employees to ensure achievement of targets;
  • Oversee hundreds of daily determinations, applying extensive fire assaying technique, along with some atomic absorption;
  • Oversee preparation and analysis of mining samples from the open pit, e.g. blast samples, drill core samples, stockpiles;
  • Oversee preparation and analysis of process milling samples taken from crushing, grinding, flotation, adsorption, electrowinning and casting stages;
  • Manage all analytical instrumentation, practices, and operations;
  • Supervise assay lab technicians;
  • Review and assign assay lab priorities and personnel as required;
  • Schedule all needed maintenance to resolve issues relating to the laboratory operations;

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in analytical chemistry or a related chemical technology diploma;
  • 5+ years assay laboratory management experience in a gold mining company;
  • Gold processing production-oriented assaying experience is a mus
  • Fire assaying expertise;
  • Excellent reporting skills;
  • Hands-on, energetic, go-getter, on-the-ground approach is essential;
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft office applications and other related packages for this position;
  • High technical ability in problem solving, analytical capabilities with special emphasis on laboratory;
  • Leadership experience and thorough understanding of good laboratory practices;
  • A strong desire to coach and develop others by sharing skills and knowledge;
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills;
  • Very good inter departmental relationship;
  • Mustbeabletoprepareandworkwithinbudgetandtimelines;
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license and have the ability t
