Job Description

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has established dialogue and governance platforms for engaging Government of Ghana, Development Partners, Civil Societies and the private sector to deliberate on strategic policy issues, share information to improve planning and implementation and ensure good sector governance- Existing platforms include: the Medium Term Sector Investment Program Steering Committee (MSC), Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (SAKSS), Joint Sector Review (JSR), Agricultural Sector Working Group (ASWG) and Business meetings. MoFA is in charge of the secretariat and it is tasked with supporting the operation of these various platforms.  Research and Operations Assistant is needed in the secretariat.

Duties & Responsibities:

The ROA will work under the Technic Coordinator and will carry out the following functions;

  • Provide research information and any other information/documents) requested
  • by the members of the platforms.
  • Provide administrative and secretarial services to the platforms,
  • Provide logistical support in organizing meetingsof the platforms (background
  • documents preparation, agenda preparation, venue arrangement, facilitators
  • engagement, invitations issuing, minutes preparation, action plan preparation,
  • meeting briefs preparation).
  • Prepare an annual calendar of activities for the meetings and provide regular
  • updates on extent of implementation of the platforms' workplans and activities.
  • Maintain the SAKSS website in conjunction with the MOFA ICT department and
  • prepare critical information to be posted on MOFA's website regarding the
  • platforms.
  • Provide support for the implementation of the workplans of the pjatforrm.
  • Contribute to ensuring continual flow oi information within and between the platforms and to stakeholders m general.

Duration of contract: One year with possibility of extension

Required Skills or Experience

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in agricultural economics/policy, other related agric- sciences or the social sciences.
  • Five (5) years working experience in similar or related fields,
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and the Internet.
  • Experience serving in associations or networks of people would be an advantage.
  • Ability to use SPSS, STATA or other econometric/modelling package would be an advantage.
  • Experience as an administrative/research assistant would be an advantage.
