Job Description

The Program Officer will be directly supervised by the Ghana Program Country Director and will ensure that its fundraising and reporting objectives are achieved.  S/he will also support activities related to identifying grant opportunities and coordinate efforts at Headquarters and field levels to respond to them.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate all fundraising activities, including donor searches and the development of proposals/concept papers in response to requests for proposals (RFPs). 
  2. Cultivate new partnerships and nuture existing partners while seeking new funding opportunities.
  3. Coordinate, review and monitor annual Country Program work plans.  Prepare a consolidated work plan for the Country Program, and facilitate the development of individual staff work plans.
  4. Work with field staff to ensure that program/project performance indicators are tracked systematically to enable donors, management, and all other relevant stakeholders receive accurate information on program/project progress.
  5. Coordinate both internal and external project/program evaluations.
  6. Develop and mainstream the utilization of instruments and protocols for vigorously promoting and marketing the organization's brand.
  7. Assist the Country Director to coordinate and implement annual work plans and activities.
  8. Identify and document institutional best practices for learning and marketing purposes.
  9. Assist with the general management of the Country Program.
  10. Coordinate management and general staff meetings as needed.
  11. May perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years’ job-related experience.
  • Experience with the NGO/PVO approach, Value chain experience, participatory management skills and knowledge of global sustainable development are essential, as well as designing, implementing and evaluating business delivery service-value chains (BDS-VC) oriented projects, preferably in the livestock sector.
