Job Description

MARKETING MANAGER

LOCATION: Accra

CATEGORY: Marketing

Our Client, a fast growing organisation, services in Cosmetology Industry. For their offices in Ghana, our client is looking to hire a competent and proactive Marketing Manager to help with their operations.

ROLE PROFILE

The Marketing Manager will ensure the effective planning and implementation of all activities related to the branding, positioning, pricing, promotion and placement of companies’   products locally and internationally, responsible for sharing customer insights with the Production and Sales team to facilitate new product development and distribution of finished goods and will ensure that effective feedback channels are maintained to solicit customer, community and stakeholder interests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Will be expected to monitor and contribute to the company’s decisions related to marketing, assist with the recruiting of marketing personnel and help select and manage external service providers.
  • The Marketing Manager will ensure the effective planning and implementation of all activities related to the branding, positioning, pricing, promotion and placement of companies’ products locally and internationally.

 

BUSINESS & MARKET DEVELOPMENT

  • Contribute to market research studies and resulting analysis
  • Summarise market research findings and make recommendations for action to be taken
  • Facilitate effective business links with both local and international markets
  • Contribute to new and existing product development and marketing of new products in order to meet the needs of the market
  • Identify new sales opportunities for the company and ways of selling companies’ products
  • Help to establish a micro-distribution scheme and network to promote company
  • Maintain and update detailed customer lists for account management/marketing purposes
  • Monitor and review marketing action plans and strategies and advise and report back to senior management

MARKETING STRATEGY & OPERATIONS

Digital communications

  • Responsible for updating and improving content on company’s website
  • Management of social media for company’s brand along with Sales and Marketing Officer
  • Ensure that the Sales and Marketing Officer responds to daily enquiries that come through the company’s social media pages

Printed communications

  • Work with external designers to produce printed flyers, stickers, pens and other company promotional materials
  • Work with designer on billboard and print media designs and liaise with agencies for booking advertising
  • Liaise with external designer on design for business cards, letter heads, labels for deliveries and packaging
  • Produce banners, signboards and stickers to brand company building and vehicles

Packaging

  • Review, improve and update cardboard box despatch packaging when appropriate
  • Work with the General Manager to introduce the new branded packaging materials to current and new markets
  • Liaise with designer to provide all necessary information for the packaging of all products and any new products
  • Work with the General Manager, Production Manager and Sales Manager to plan the timing and strategy for the introduction of any new products into the market

Sales support

  • Work with the Sales and Marketing Officer to support the sales team with information and materials to maximise sales in Ghana and internationally
  • Update sales kits and other information documents regularly to support Sales Officers and distributors
  • Work with Sales Manager to provide training materials for Sales Assistants and any new sales staff
  • Produce any other information requested by sales team to enhance sales
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Sales and Marketing Department

Events

  • Coordinate and organise the company’s representation at events or exhibitions
  • Maintain and update a marketing activities database which includes budget required for each activity to be presented to the Finance Manager at quarterly planning meetings
  • Coordinate any activation events along with Sales and Marketing Officer
  • Identify any appropriate networking opportunities and promote the company brand appropriately
  • Ensure that each event is properly monitored and that there is a report evaluating the event available for future reference
  • Attend the annual Global Shea Alliance conference

CORPORATE & CUSTOMER COMMUNICATIONS

External relations

  • Ensuring that corporate communications are planned, well timed and professional
  • Assist the CEO in developing the company’s public profile
  • Be a Spokesperson and Ambassador for the company and its brand
  • Act as the main point of contact for the company
  • Develop and maintain, where appropriate and in agreement with the CEO, effective lines of communication between the company and their external stakeholders

 Advertising and publicity

  • Build and maintain a list of press contacts useful to the company
  • Write and distribute press releases when appropriate
  • Create radio adverts and LPM or work with external contacts to create adverts and jingles
  • Liaise with radio stations and agencies for the booking of radio advertisements
  • Explore advertising channels such as event sponsorship and billboards for key areas
  • Liaise with graphic designer and print houses for printed materials

 Internal communications

  • As part of companies’ management group, input and help to coordinate the implementation of the company’s business plan
  • Write the marketing section of the company’s monthly report to be submitted to the board
  • Share ideas and best practice with members of the management team and board where necessary
  • Contribute to and organise group workshops where appropriate
  • Responsible for all sales and marketing electronic files and original design files on server

 Customer communications

  • Develop a programme of regular customer communications by email, including monthly newsletter
  • Develop and maintain high standards of email communication to customers, ensuring that appropriate messages and signatures are applied to all communications
  • Ensure that quarterly communications about price list and any important updates are used for marketing purposes
  • Ensure that customer enquiries through the sales email, telephone or in person are dealt with rapidly and professionally by the Front Office Sales Assistant.

 WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

As well as line management responsibilities, the Marketing Manager will work with:

  • Senior management and management team
  • Sales and marketing staff including Sales Manager and field based sales staff
  • Office-based despatch and logistics staff
  • Finance and production departments

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATION

  • Post-graduate degree in marketing and sales preferred, or an equivalent professional qualification.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Leadership/Supervisory role in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector
  • Experience in cosmetics preferred
  • Experience in international marketing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong leadership profile and excellent marketing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to empower, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Ability to develop and execute plans and strategies.
  • Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of key media companies in Ghana.
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation and website design an advantage.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the Company’s needs.
  • Strong leadership, persuasive and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of key channels of cosmetics in Ghana.
  • Strong ability to write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedures manuals.
  • Effective prioritizing and time management
  • Strong working knowledge of word, excel, PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to exemplifying the highest integrity and professional business standards
  • Professionally fluent in English( written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of export and experience of international sales an added advantage
