Job Description

The position takes a lead role in providing design services related to process engineering for the facilities and equipments. Ensures application of correct standards in the design and development of projects related to gas production, pressure maintenance, transportation and export. Prepares/oversees conceptual design for modifications and evaluates plant modifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordinates the activities of assigned personnel in assigned Process Engineering Unit.  Performs supervisory functions and exercises financial authority at the level established by management for the position.
• Advises on engineering activities related to the company’s existing and proposed process facilities. Participates as a member of special or ad hoc committees to study various technical problems/facilities
• Participates in the evaluation of plant modification requests involving a wide variety of process elements or problems, recommends solutions, acceptance or rejection of proposed changes, as appropriate. 
• Receives various requests for engineering support through supervisor, which may involve one or several technical activities
• Supervises the preparation of conceptual designs for major and minor process related projects or for projects that have a process design content, inclusive of preparation of cost estimates and scopes of work. 
• Directs in-house draughtsmen in the preparation of necessary drawings and checks their finished work for accuracy and completeness. 
• Supervises the consultants’ performance and checks their design packages to ensure completeness, quality of work and adherence to Company standards and requirements.
• Provides process engineering assistance to other departments in the preparation of detailed design packages. 
• Visits various operational locations to survey or to advise on any special problems which may arise during construction and commissioning work. 
• Assists in budget preparation exercises by preparing preliminary cost estimates and advising on project phasing taking into account long lead items and Company procedures.
• Co-ordinated with the process engineers in the Division of the establishment and updating of process engineering standards, design philosophies and participates in the preparation of standard design consultancy contract framework.
• Plans and participates in the ongoing training and development of employees. Includes assessing employees training and development needs, directing the preparation of structured development/familiarization programs, monitoring and reporting on progress and counselling employees as required.
• Prepares and/or participate in the preparation of Invitation to Bids, Scope of Work, and Bid Clarifications and participate in technical evaluations of various tenders and award of contracts.
• Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility, and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain. 
• Carries out other similar or related duties such as participating in value engineering studies & safety audits of existing plants to identify opportunities of cost optimisation, deficiencies/hazards, and recommend suitable remedial actions
• Leads any HAZOP Sessions and participates and attends in Hazard Assessment sessions.
• Conducts all work activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times by not taking on any task(s) that are perceived as unsafe.
• Complies with the QHSE management system and reports all incidents and near misses to the supervisor or QHSE representative. Ensures effective accident investigation and follow up.
• Performs other similar or related duties as and when assigned by the direct supervisor/line manager.

Required Skills or Experience

• B. Sc. Degree.
• 7-9 years experience in design, construction and maintenance of process facilities, inclusive of a minimum of 5 years should have been in the oil and gas industry.
