• Job Title: DIRECTOR OF AVIATION SECURITY
• Department: SECURITY
• Reports To: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
• Location:  HEAD OFFICE, ACCRA

JOB PURPOSE

The Director of Aviation Security shall be responsible for developing and maintaining AWA’s Security Programme in accordance with the requirements of the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP).

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

The Director of Aviation Security shall;

1. Ensure that AWA has a forward view of emerging threats and security risks impacting our operations.
2. Manage and assess in-flight security threats and other aviation security related emergency incidents.
3. Provide specialist security advice.
4.  Oversee and performance-manage AWA’s Security Programme.
5. Liaise with applicable aviation security authorities and other relevant external entities.
6. Represent AWA at national and international security functions.
7. Conduct vetting and integrity checks as required.
8. Ensure the auditing, testing and security training of all AWA staff.

Required Skills or Experience

• This is a senior management position which requires at least a degree in social sciences or equivalent.  Applicants with an MBA/Masters degree in Aviation Security are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Prospective applicants must have ICAO/IATA  DIPLOMA in AVIATION SECURITY MANAGEMENT and at least one of the following professional qualifications;
• Airport/airlines/cargo security operations
• Aviation security national inspectors training course
• Aviation security national auditors training course
• ISO 9001 auditor/lead auditor training course

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE

Prospective applicants must:

1. have good general health, reasonable strength and no physical incapacity which would prevent them from undertaking the normal range of aviation security duties;
2. have strong observational skills
3. be free from dependence on alcohol or illegal substances;
