Job Description

Background

A business advisory firm seeks to engage a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Expert on a long term based two year renewable contract bases. The successful candidate will serve as the project’s technical lead for all water, sanitation and hygiene activities. The WASH Expert will provide technical direction to WASH projects, ensuring that project outcomes related to the promotion of hygiene related behaviour and promotion WASH related activities. The successful candidate will conduct and oversee field activities to ensure effective implementation, and contribute to development of project work plans and performance reports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide business advisory services to MSMEs in the WASH sector
• Provide technical direction for WASH projects
• Conduct training to  MSME businesses
• Conduct market research
• Report writing
• Serve as the technical lead on all WASH activities.
• Lead the development of project work plans, ensuring that targets are met and project outcomes are achieved.
• Work closely with project staff, government entities, and other stakeholders to design and implement targeted strategies for the improved community participation  
• Liaise with the donor officials as needed.
• Contribute detailed and accurate written inputs to fulfill project technical and financial reporting requirements.
• Participate in relevant coordination meetings to present project activities, and assure highest quality of project implementation.

The offer will be on a 2 year renewable contract basis, subject to good performance.
Remuneration will be based on qualification and experience, commensurate with industry standards.

Required Skills or Experience

• A minimum First Degree with consistent work in the WASH sector. A Post Graduate degree would be an added advantage 
• Minimum of 5 years professional  experience in  WASH sector and Sanitation methodologies
• Proven experience in budgeting and budget management
• Strong analytical and communication skills and ability to multi-task under pressure and yet remain effective and productive
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with team members and lead a team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, cultural sensitivity, ability to work with people, good judgment and commitment to the project
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, etc.)
• Willingness to travel to field sites as required by the project
• Experience in social and community mobilization, hygiene and sanitation campaigns with the district assembly will be an added advantage.
