Job Description

Oxfam in Ghana, a leading non-governmental organization working on promoting Economic Justice, enhancing Access to Quality Essential Services (Education and Health) for the Poor, and Extractive Governance, is looking for an experienced Ghanaian with qualification in Economics, Development Studies, Health or related field of study to join its Programme and Influencing team as Programme and Campaign Officer for a 2-year fixed term contract.

We are looking for applicants who have a track record in successful campaigning and building relationships with diverse stakeholders. You’ll be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and project management skills as well as demonstrable numerical skills and confident with budgets.

  • Primarily responsible for research and policy support, programme management, and support to longer-term programme advocacy on inequality issues (including tax and public services – Education and Health) and agriculture and food security.
  • You’ll be responsible for delivering our Tax and Inequality programme, part of the Economic Justice campaign, and providing support to our maternal and child health projects.
  • You’ll manage relations with a diverse range of partners and allies, and also support regional and global campaign actions. You’ll take on a range of other duties defined in your job description.
  • You’ll have every chance to show us what you’re made of as you get to grips with campaigning and advocacy and write regular policy briefs, blogs and bulletins for external audience and staff across Oxfam.

The Programme and Campaign Officer will be based in Accra office with frequent travels to partner locations within Ghana and outside when required.  

Required Skills or Experience

  • Organised and an effective development practitioner, you’ll have a wide knowledge of tax and inequality and understanding of NGO policy/advocacy work in the context of Ghana.
  • You'll also have a strong desire to promote changes in policies and practice that empower vulnerable people around the world.
  • And you’ll certainly be no stranger to managing complex workloads and partnerships. Confident research, policy and writing communications for a variety of audiences, you’ll have an eye for detail and the drive to deliver key policy and campaign products on your own.
  • And it’s absolutely essential that you’re fluent in English and some Ghanaian languages.
