Job Description

Role Profile:

Qualified candidate will be responsible for calculating and quoting basic and complex airfares, produce the airline ticket and forward it to the traveller or travel agent.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and issue required documentation such as tickets, travel insurance policies, and itineraries
  • Confer with customers to determine their service requirements and travel preferences
  • Undertake bookings and issuance of tickets and client invoices
  • Contact customers or travel agents to advise them of travel conveyance changes or to confirm reservations
  • Ensure passenger information is captured correctly in the client profile
  • Determine whether space is available on travel dates requested by customers, and assign requested spaces when available
  • Ensure registration of client frequent flier details and other flight preferences
  • Ensuring clients are offered travel insurance
  • Update the in-house system with any airline changes
  • Assist passengers with tagging luggage and baggage check in, ticketing, makes and/or changes reservations, seat assignment,
  • Answer inquiries about flight schedules and fares, verifies reservations by phone, figures fares and handles payments.
  • Provide directions to departure gates when necessary
  • At the boarding gates;
  • Responsible for processing and boarding passengers.
  • Handle seat or schedule conflicts,
  • Make boarding announcements,
  • Check and collect tickets at the boarding gate, and
  • Assisting handicapped passengers as they board or depart the aircraft.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills or Experience

  • HND or Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management or any other related discipline
  • Amadeus certificate an advantage
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar challenging role with an IATA accredited company

Requirements:

  • Must have an interest in the travel industry in view of building a long term career
  • Must be accurate with information and also be able to work under pressure
  • Must be experienced in both ticketing and reservation
  • Must pay good attention to detail and possess the ability to solve problem
  • Must have be proficient in spoken and written English
  • Must understand the importance of customer needs
  • Must be able to relate to people, engage and build relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Must possess basic typing and computer skills
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics
  • Must be able to work without close supervision
  • Must have general knowledge of geography
  • Cash handling and credit card transaction experience is helpful.
  • Candidates that can speak and understand a foreign language have an added advantage
