Job Description

We are a reputable Equity Investment Firm currently into Finance, Hospitality, Logistics, Real Estates, Property Management, Security Services and Trade.

We are seeking to find suitable persons with an excellent track record for the following position within the Group

  • Job Title: Workshop Manager
  • Department: Mechanical & Maintenance
  • Reports Directly:  General Manager, Transport

Purpose:

This position will manage and lead a team of people in allocating workload and managing the day to day operations in the workshop. It requires the job holder to co-ordinate resources and liaises with internal and external key contacts to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities associated with this position will include:

  • Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling and labour allocation for day to day operations.
  • Co-ordinate resources, (operational and human) schedules and activities to effectively manage jobs.
  • Ensure supplies are ordered for each job.
  • Assist with quoting, project management, materials purchasing and quality checks.
  • Ensure correct job numbers are used and that time records are correct.
  • Provide oversight and check job estimates.
  • Manage inward goods, checking quantities, dispatching goods and receipting invoices
  • Regularly report progress on each job and quickly communicate delays or concerns with the General Manager, Transport. Report on manpower overruns or shortfalls
  • Act as a technical adviser on key projects and other areas of the business as requested
  • Work with the Team to respond to client’s requests for updates on the status of their jobs and keep the communication channels open to ensure information is accurate.
  • Receive and review feedback from customers and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Work with the General Manager, Transport to investigate customer complaints and concerns arising from products and suggest appropriate solutions. Discuss with team to identify appropriate course of action.
  • Develop and implement systems to record, file and store information pertaining to client enquiries
  •  Evaluate the impact of work delays, interruptions or changes in plans to develop appropriate course of actions
  • Monitor workflow to anticipate impact of delays due to team members being absent for leaves, holidays or sickness.
  • Review customers service orders and inspect the quality of a technician repairs before the release of vehicles.
  • Review work orders to ensure that all actions have been documented according to Service Workshop policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials in the Service Area.
  • Analyze current procedures and activities to identify and present opportunities for improvement of the workshop.
  •  Promote a Health and Safety culture within the business.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum of a first degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University
  • Five years working experience in a similar role with expertise in Heavy (Trucks) and Light Vehicles

Other Skills:

  • Experience in the automotive industry
  • Automotive systems (vehicle layout, function and location of parts)
  • Knowledge of mechanical issues, warranties, service and general repairs
  • Organizational ability
