Job Description

We are looking for a Communications Officer with exceptional writing skills, to design and create a vast suite of materials from press releases, blogs, website copy, training materials to grant and marketing proposals. You will need to work closely with the client services and sales team to understand their requirements and translate them into professional, polished brochures and event materials.

The communication officer has to be efficient and process-driven, enabling him/her to manage the Company knowledge repository, and work to the communications strategy under the guidance of the communications team. He/she will need to present and meet with a variety of audience, and be enthusiastic about new technologies and private sector development.

He/she will be required to tweet, blog, video, photograph, and network. This is a demanding role where you have to articulate and educate about the role of technology in transforming agriculture in Africa, where you should become part of the community of social entrepreneurs making a difference through enlightened business practices.

CORE RESPONSIBLILTIES

You will drive and be the key owner to the following responsibilities:

• Write press releases, copy for marketing materials, training materials, company documentation, advertisements, etc.
• Review printed and online content for technology and agricultural related content
• Support the team in managing media relations by researching editorial opportunities and building relationships with key industry media in the region
• Develop content for social media
• Support the client services and sales teams in presentation preparation
• Support the team with Esoko’s Communication strategy, standards and practices
• Greet high level guests and be able to present the team, product and vision

Required Skills or Experience

• Exceptional written skills, including proven ability to tailor messages to a variety of diverse audiences
• Degree in communications, Media or Arts preferable
• Strong presentation skills (preparation and delivery)
• Confident, presentable and articulate
• You can take in and distill a lot of information about a fast growing company
• Efficient and ability to focus on processes
• Creative with a strong awareness and practice of social media platforms
• You’re enthusiastic about what new technologies and local business can bring to Africa.
