Program Description

The Ghana Poultry Program (GPP) Is a 5 year project and expected to increase the competitiveness of domestic production and processing of poultry meat and eggs. This, in turn, will expand end-market “pull” opportunities for maize and soya production, supporting Feed the Future objectives to raise income and employment for smallholder producers. GPP’s strategy is focused on catalyzing efficiencies at key stages of the poultry value chain in order to reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported poultry meat (currently estimated at over 90 percent of poultry meat consumption); improve profitability of egg production; expand national and regional trade; and sustainably and equitably increase incomes of male and female producers in poultry, grains, and related value chains.

Position Description

The Team Leader is responsible for the implementation, coordination and evaluation of all activities related to Program implementation.

The team will provide technical leadership and support on the Poultry Market Component, in accordance with the overall GPP activity plan. Support includes the following activities:

• Conducting market analysis and reporting on the poultry industry
• Developing promotional/advertising campaigns on egg/meat consumption
• Market facilitation between commercial farms and end buyers
• Support to national poultry association development, strategy, etc., including policy and advocacy support
• Lead poultry industry stakeholder coordination and capacitation, including government (MoFA)
• Technical/husbandry support to poultry farms (except feed), hatcheries, abattoirs, and processors operating at small, medium, and large scale
• Support to biosanitary farm measures, including veterinary support services
• Provide support to Senior management at TechnoServe will form and its advisory committee to ensure that the project is implemented in an effective manner. He/She will support The advisory committee with: 
• Annual work plan development
• Development of the performance monitoring plan
• Drafting and review of quarterly and annual reports

Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)

• Support the Program Director in the evaluation of all activities related to TechnoServe’s work on the program.
• Contribute significantly to the reporting/communication of results, both internally and externally
• Oversight of Business Advisors, and M& E impact measurement activities; identify needed course corrections as necessary and implement in partnership with the Program Director.
