Job Description

World Vision Ghana (WVG) is looking for a highly qualified, proactive, motivated and resourceful person to fill the position of HAULAGE DRIVER / MECHANIC.

Job Summary

To transport and deliver goods and raw materials across all project sites and locations to support field operations and the project office. The post holder is also responsible to facilitate activities at the project level through the support to maintenance and repairs of all assigned vehicles and to undertake driving assignments within and outside the project.

The Package

• The position is based in Savelugu, Northern Region with some level of domestic travel.
• The position comes with an attractive salary package.
• S/He reports to the Maintenance Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults on all trucks
• Keep records of maintenance schedules
• Ensuring safe loading and off-loading the vehicle
• Safe delivery and accountability of all haulage goods
• Operates heavy duty trucks
• Ensure all carried goods are properly documented
• Any other duties that may be required by the position

Working Environment / Conditions:

• Travel: 80% domestic travel may be required.

Required Skills or Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

• Educational level required:  Minimum of Credit passes in English and Mathematics
• Technical Training qualifications required: Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• Professional technical skill desired (certification): NVTI 1&2
• Experience: minimum 5 years of experience in Heavy Duty Mechanic

Critical Competencies

• Possess excellent time management skills,
• good written and verbal communication skills
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills, and conceptual ability
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc
• Must possess a valid driver’s license. (Minimum Grade D but F will be preferred)
• Must be proactive with a high level of initiative, innovation, drive and a strong team player with interpersonal skills.
• Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
• Perform other duties as required.
