Job Description

The purpose of this position is to ensure effective strategic and operational financial planning, monitoring, management and reporting to enhance the decision making process of all programs run by iDE Ghana.

RELATIONSHIPS

The Finance Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager and is also accountable for regional staff financial management. The Finance Manager works in close collaboration with other teams, both WASH and Agriculture, such as the sales, supply, performance, engineering, and project management teams to achieve program goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Financial Management
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with Program Directors and Country Director
  • Review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes
  • Keep senior management team abreast of the organization’s financial status
  • Ensure organizational cash flow and forecasting are steady and support operational requirements
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system
  • Ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices
  • Improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual
  • Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the directors
  • Management of payroll
  1. Support Field Visits and Deep Dive Investigations
  • Work closely with the Program Directors and Program Teams to participate in landscaping research to identify needs, opportunities, gaps and constraints to access finance within the WASH and agriculture market for supply chain actors and consumers of selected products
  • Manage all finance-related aspects of program work plans - work closely with regional finance managers and program teams to develop activities and budgets and execute against plan
  • Engage with financial service providers (MFIs, banks and development institutions) to develop partnerships to create new and customized existing financial products for consumer and supply chain financing
  • Engage with government and regulatory stakeholders to leverage existing policies for the program objectives in the short term and understand and improve the financial regulatory and operating environment in the long term
  • Negotiate key deal terms between private-sector partners and iDE to ensure alignment of incentives and provide optimal value for money to donors and to supply chain partners and customers

Required Skills or Experience

  • Graduated from university with degree BBA or Accountant and Finance or relevant field.  
  • At least 8 years’ work experience in financial management or relevant field.
  • Knowledge of sanitation, agriculture, microfinance and small business management is an asset
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Experience in email communication.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proven experience managing teams.
  • Proficiency in Twi, Hausa, Dagbani, Dagaare, Fra Fra or any other languages spoken in the three Northern Regions.
  • Valid driving license.
