Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Research, the specific duties will include:

• Carrying out research and use the findings to develop broad policy guidelines and discussion papers on best practice in extractives regulatory framework,
• Collect reports and other publications to build a database of reference materials for extractive  sector,
• Serve as the organisation focal person on research and case studies carried out by third parties on extractives.
• Undertake and lead, as required, the identification, preparation, appraisal and/or supervision of extractive research and case studies.
• Design and conduct comprehensive and broad studies/reviews and manage multi country projects in mining, oil and gas.
• Perform other duties or special projects as directed by the Director of Research or the Chief Economist.

Required Skills or Experience

• A post-graduate degree in economics, economics and law, geological sciences and knowledgeable in mineral, oil and gas
• At least 5 years work experience in the sector, extractives regulatory environment or a Think-Tank,
• Knowledge of  the extractives sector regulatory environment,
• Demonstrated track record of working in a team environment,
• Proven experience in research with strong record of publications in refereed journals,
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills,
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English or French with good working knowledge of the other language.
• Working knowledge of French or Portuguese desirable.
• Practical knowledge of the various generic stages in the extractives value chain,
