Job Description

  • Job Title:  Assistant General Manager– Beige Village
  • Department: Administration
  • Job Location: New Abirim
  • Reports Directly to:  Managing Director with a broken relationship with the CEO

Summary of Job Duties

To deliver friendly and efficient customer service and to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all of our guests. To supervise, train and motivate others, with the key aim of retaining and attracting new customers.You will report to the Managing Director of the hotel and have a broken relationship with the CEO at The Group office

Key Responsibilities                                       

The key responsibilities associated with this position will include but not limited to the following:

Leadership and Representation           

  • Interface cross-functionally at all levels within the company, including communication with, external sources, Third party providers and Governmental agencies.
  • Represent the MD/CEO at functions and meetings as and when necessary.
  • Lead, direct and support  the activities of employees so as to achieve the corporate objectives
  • Manage performance of all departments with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate, coach, and mentor employees.
  • Provide necessary technical and operational support to all teams within the business unit

Strategic and Operation 

  • Plan and implement budgets and ensure that bbudgets are properly controlled and managed, to achieve best value for money
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities.
  • Oversee the operations and general activities of the business, including its assets and employees.
  • Supervise and report on all operational and strategic issues to the CEO
  • Manage relationship with internal and external parties (external parties include but not limited to regulatory authorities and clients)
  • Continually improve and develop business performance within the constraints of the law.
  • Ensure optimal operation of all logistics to achieve  greater efficiency

Hotel Management and hospitality Skills

  • Assist the hotel manager in overseeing all the events, activities and operations of the hotel
  • Ensure that all hotel rules and policies are implemented.
  • Monitor the tasks of personnel and workers, set goals and targets to promote and improve the service of the hotel.
  • Manage client’s complaints and compliments about the hotel and correct short falls whilst improving on compliments.
  • You may sometimes be required to welcome guests and customers as they enter the hotel.
  • Assist the hotel manager in ensuring the security of guests and the entire hotel.

Client Services

  • Deliver excellent customer service, at all times, ensuring guests’ comfort and safety.
  • Deal with all enquires in a professional and courteous manner, in person, on the telephone or via e-mail.
  • Deal with customer complaints in a professional manner
  • Manage and maintain the administration of all reservations, cancellations and no-shows, in line with company policy.
  • Keep up to date with current promotions and hotel pricing, to provide information to guests, on request, while maximizing bedroom sales opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain good relationship with existing and potential clients of the hotel
  • Manage and maintain effective and efficient use of all reception equipment and hotel systems, in line with company policy.

Hotel Facility Maintenance and Care

  • Assist in keeping the hotel clean and tidy, at all times.
  • Ensure that all business recovery/contingency plans and/or procedures are always kept up to date
  • Ensure that all bedrooms/conference rooms and areas under your responsibility are checked thoroughly at the end of every shift, confirming that they meet our standards.
  • Maintain the correct handling of all soiled linen and ensure that every bedroom has the correct bedding and relevant number of towels.
  • Take measures to correct any faults or damage in any of the bedrooms (or hotel facilities) immediately or report same to the hotel manager.
  • Monitor and oversee maintenance issues relevant to your area and liaise with third-party contractors as required.
  • Complete regular checks on portable electrical appliances.

Team Work and Staff Management

  • Ensure that the appropriate level of training is provided for all security staff on disasters; fire and a
  • Procedures; use of technical equipment and routine security duties.
  • Ensure that knowledge is tested several times per year
  • Maintain the security team training plans up to date for all security staff and to test their knowledge of procedures regularly.
  • Maintain effective communication, at all times, among the team, hotel manager and night manager.
  • Complete rotas for your team weekly and manage and maintain correct staffing levels in line with targets and business levels.
  • Ensure that all members of the team sign in/out on the time sheets at reception and manage absence and lateness, in line with company policy.
  • Be responsible for evacuation, in cases of emergency, acting as first point of contact for the team, guests and the emergency services

Required Skills or Experience

Among other things, the candidate should have the following:  

  • A have a good second degree in any business related discipline and/or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years working experience of which three (3) years must be relevant to the hotel and hospitality industry.
  • General knowledge of modern hotel management practices
  • Ability to prepare, maintain and provide  accurate reports
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of others

Other Skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must have business Acumen and a good negotiator
  • Must be strict but responsive and assertive
  • Must be creative and resourceful with excellent technical and superior analytical skills to combine different types of information intelligently to find patterns and issues and then articulate these findings in a simple and transparent manner.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
