Job Description

  • Job Title:  General Manger – ACS
  • Department:   Administration
  • Job Location:  Accra
  • Reports Directly to:  CEO - TBG

Job Summary

You are responsible for managing the day to day operations as well as the strategic direction of the company. You will supervise the work of all other people within the unit. You will report directly to the CEO of The BEIGE Group.

Key Responsibilities                                   

The key responsibilities associated with this position will include but not limited to the following:

Leadership and Representation           

  • Interface cross-functionally at all levels within the company, including communication with, external sources, Third party providers and Governmental agencies.
  • Represent the CEO at functions and meetings as and when necessary.
  • Lead, direct and support  the activities of employees so as to achieve the corporate objectives
  • Manage performance of all departments with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate, coach, and mentor employees.
  • Provide necessary technical and operational support to all teams within the business unit

Strategic and Operation

  • Plan and implement budgets.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities.
  • Oversee the operations and general activities of the business, including its assets and employees.
  • Manage the operational aspects of on-going projects and serve as liaison between project management teams and the CEO.
  • Supervise and report on all operational and strategic issues to the CEO
  • Manage relationship with internal and external parties (external parties include but not limited to regulatory authorities and clients)
  • Continually improve and develop business performance within the constraints of the law.
  • Budgets are properly controlled and managed, to achieve best value for money
  • Ensure optimal operation of all logistics to achieve  greater efficiency

Security Management Specific

  • To manage and provide effective leadership to the security team and ensure that:
  • All training needs are identified and processed promptly and are undertaken at the appropriate time.
  • Performance Agreements, interim and main reviews are undertaken within the set timescale
  • All requests for annual and flexi leave are managed and controlled, ensuring that there is adequate cover to maintain services at all times.
  • To maintain the Security Operations Manual up to date for use by all on site security personnel to cover duties, individual instructions for each post; attendance; use of security equipment; dress standard; training etc.
  • To assist the Operations Manager/Officers in implementing security as a core business function to be adopted by the entire business unit
  • Keep physical security measures under constant review to ensure they are adequate to meet current threats to own and client business, evaluate changes, showing advantages and disadvantages, costs etc. and present to Management.
  • Assisting in undertaking security surveys, security risk assessments, drafting relevant policies and  procedures and compiling security reports.


Security Breaches/Investigations

  • Act as focal point for any investigations as maybe required to prepare reports and note follow up action.
  • Assist in undertaking full investigation; recommend course of action and remedial measures to security breaches.

Disaster Recovery

  • Participate in the role of Incident Management during any incidents and emergencies.
  • Ensure that all business recovery/contingency plans and/or procedures are always kept up to date
  • Be on call on a 24 hours x 7 days basis for any emergencies occurring that may occur
  • Undertake the security lead role in the Major Incident Team.

Training

  • Ensure that the appropriate level of training is provided for all security staff on disasters; fire and a
  • Procedures; use of technical equipment and routine security duties.
  • Ensure that knowledge is tested several times per year
  • Maintain the security team training plans up to date for all security staff and to test their knowledge of procedures regularly

Required Skills or Experience

Among other things, the candidate should have the following:  

  • Have a good second degree in any business related discipline and/or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years working experience of which three (3) years must be in Management.
  • General knowledge of modern security management practices
  • Ability to prepare, maintain and provide  accurate records
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of others

Other Skills

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must have business Acumen and a good negotiator
  • Must be strict but responsive and assertive
  • Must be creative and resourceful with excellent technical and superior analytical skills to combine different types of information intelligently to find patterns and issues and then articulate these findings in a simple and transparent manner.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
