Job Description
Job Purpose
To oversee the day-to-day running of the Certification Department and ensure that the Association meets all certification requirements to remain certified with all relevant certification bodies.
- Reports To: The Executive Secretary of the CAA
- Responsible For: Assistant Certification Manager, GIS and Certification Administrator, Technical Trainers, GPS Surveyors and Field data collection Officers.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Executive Secretary and other Functional managers to plan and execute all strategic objectives of certification and marketing of the certified produce
- Supervises the activities of the Assistant Certification manager, GIS and certification Administrator, Technical Trainer, GPS Surveyors, Administrative Assistants and Field Data Collection Officers.
- Provides leadership in the management of all day-to-day activities regarding certification, warehousing, GPS mapping and GIS
- To identify and engage new strategic partners for the CAA in terms of the expansion of certification and other relevant initiatives
- To create adequate Internal Control systems (ICS) and to comply to different certification programs
- Ensures that standard and good training modules are prepared and adequate training is given to certified members, employees of stakeholders involved in certification and cluster inspectors
- Identifies new trends in certification and put in place the necessary requirements to propel the Association to benefit from them
- Oversee to the adherence to all current certification protocols to help make the Association remain certified to all the relevant certification bodies
- Implement innovations and initiatives in collaboration with the other Departments to strengthen the CAA to meet her main objectives

Required Skills or Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, Regional Development and Innovation, Fairtrade Management or Social Sciences and
- At least four (4) years experience in the cocoa industry
Other Qualities and Requirements
- Ability to think strategically, plan, implement and deliver project outcomes to the CAA’s business and certification objectives
- Should have excellent communications skills as well as the flair, ability, presence and personality to constructively engage internal and external stakeholders on issues bordering on certification and other innovative programmes
- Should be extensively knowledgeable and qualified in certification issues
- Would have an in-depth knowledge of all agricultural practices in the field
- Superior negotiation skills and ability to convince and make a point to his peers
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Ability to work with GIS and GPS software and hardware
- Knowledge in UTZ & RA Certification is an added advantage
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work to deadlines without compromising on values and standards of the CAA
- Should exhibit good leadership skills to lead all strategic certification initiatives of the CAA
- Ability to drive and must have a valid drivers’ license
