Job Description

A web designer is responsible for creating a site or pages, this includes the design, layout and coding, this can mean working on a brand new website or updating an already existing site.

Responsibilities of the job include:

• Draw up detailed website specifications;
• Design sample page layouts including text size and colours;
• Design graphics, animations and manipulating digital photographs;
• Register web domain names and organising the hosting of the website;
• Code using a variety of software;
• Work with different content management systems;
• Search engine optimisation;
• Meet relevant legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy;
• Proofread content and making changes where necessary;
• Edit content, debugging code and re-designing web pages;
• Work with other web specialists including web developers and graphic designers;
• Liaising with outside agencies;
• Testing the website to ensure it is working;
• Handing the completed website over to the client;
• Post-sales technical support;
• Training client's staff;
• Researching current design trends;
• Continual professional development to keep up to date with new software developments.

Required Skills or Experience

A  minimum of a diploma in IT, Computer Science or related fields is required.  Applicants must posses the following Key skills for web designers
