Background

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), a leader in global health, is currently recruiting for a Regional Manager for the recently awarded USAID-funded five year Strengthening the Care Continuum Project in Ghana. The overall goal of the project is to improve the capacity of the Government of Ghana (GOG) and its partners to provide quality and comprehensive HIV services for key populations and people living with HIV/AIDS using a coordinated and sustainable approach.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Regional Manager is a full-time position that will be based in Kumasi. The position will serve as the technical and management officer within the region, providing leadership and coordination in strategic planning, program development and management, and overseeing the implementation of activities within the region. S/he will report to the Deputy Chief of Party and will work closely with the technical team, Care Continuum partners and other stakeholders in Care Continuum areas of operation.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

The Regional Director will:

  • Oversee program implementation  in Kumasi;
  • Provide technical leadership and support in line with the responsibilities of the Continuum of Care team and Institutional and Technical Strengthening team;
  • Manage and lead  a number of regional office  staff  including QA/QI Officer, Institutional and Technical Strengthening Officer, Technical HIV Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Finance and Administration Officer, Grants Officer;
  • Support and work with the Accra office staff in guiding and providing technical information insuring appropriate interventions consistent within the area of  proximity;
  • In collaboration with national and regional team, design  promising activities and support their replications and coordination;
  • Produce regional comprehensive  activity reports and updates to the national Care Continuum senior management team;
  • In collaboration with the M&E team, monitor and  identify regional implementation gaps and do immediate adjustments consistent with Care Continuum technical approaches and principles;
  • Advise the Care Continuum national office on an appropriate way to manage matters arising from implementation of various activities in the region;
  • Oversee regional financial and material resources; and
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role and responsibilities of the position. 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Graduate degree in Social Sciences (preferably Public Health or Community Development) post graduate in a relevant field will be an advantage;
  • Experience in managing independent  field office and staff;
  • More than three years’ experience working with the community and NGOs in capacity building and advocacy related activities;
  • Experience in public health programs;
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with national policies related to HIV, health, and key populations;
  • Creative and capacity to work independently;
  • Fluent in English; and
  • Good interpersonal skills.
