Job Description

Junior Demand Planner

Category: Finance and Supply Chain Unit

Location: Accra

Our client a full service distributor of various products internationally and locally is looking for a dynamic individual for the position of Junior Demand Planner to help with their operations in Ghana.

Role Profile

The successful candidate will ensure a smooth and timely inflow of stocks from the Company’s suppliers per the sales forecast and cover stock parameters. He/ She will report to the Finance and Admin Manager.

Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Prepare orders from the Company’s suppliers for stocks needed based on the monthly sales forecast.
  • Coordinate with the suppliers, the clearing agent, the insurance companies, the shipping lines to ensure the timely arrival and clearance of stocks
  • Maintain the inventory at the agreed stock cover being not more than 2 months forecast.
  • Ensure that the Company is able to provide a minimum of 85% service level i.e. 85% of the skus are in stock and available at any time
  • Provide on time information needed to establish the settings on the system for new items (number, description, and other details).
  • Provide information for Prices Maintenance, fragments, and other items’ records on the System.
  • Follow clearance of goods from port and liaise with clearing agents.
  • Prepare stock & sales related reports that are required by the Company’s suppliers and submit on the due dates.
  • Prepare and manage all internal reports as required by management and submit on time (ex: Slow Moving Lines, Analysis of Clearance Costs etc.)
  • Maintain accurate, clean, and easily accessible files for each invoice and its pertinent documentation
  • Participate in the mid-year and year end stock counts
  • Provide assistance to the Company’s auditors on request and in coordination with the Accounts Manager
  • Highlight any potential issues relating to meeting the sales forecast, stock cover requirements, and shipment clearances to the Operation Manager
  • Handle all insurance claims arising from damages on arriving shipments
  • Forecast and identify demand risk and opportunities and develop an effective plan to reduce risk and enhance opportunities
  • To communicate regularly and effectively with other departments to gather relevant information and inform them about stock situation.
  • Research demand drivers and sales trends and analyse all data to be used to in preparing an effective demand and supply plan.

Required Skills or Experience

Experience and Qualification

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or any related discipline
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Must have worked in the FMCG sector in the same capacity

  • Must be IT oriented (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills (Oral and Written)
