Job Description

Role Purpose
To coordinate, control and provide technical guidance in the assembling of electronic gadgets to ensure efficient production at acceptable quality levels/output. 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of strategies for the Plant. 
  • Develop for review and approval, policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work plan, operating manuals and other support systems including monitoring mechanisms in managing the Plant to achieve targeted objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate the operations of the Plant to ensure maximum equipment/system uptime in all aspects of the production process to deliver products that meet approved cost, quality and quantity requirements.
  • Review processing schedules and production orders and make recommendations/decisions regarding resources needed to meet schedules or orders. 
  • Liaise with the Procurement Unit to ensure that materials and equipment required for production are supplied within agreed standards, specifications and time.
  • Develop training programmes, including on-the-job training for direct reports to ensure they follow workplace instructions and understand defect criteria as appropriate.
  • Interpret Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) regulations, Factories, Offices and Shops Act to increase understanding and awareness in the prevention/control of accidents at the Plant.
  • Monitor the entire production process of the Plant to ensure optimization of all equipment and other resources to reduce cost, maximize asset utilization and increase plant capacity.
  • Prepare periodic (monthly and quarterly) reports on operations/activities of the Plant to aid in decision-making.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Master’s degree Business Administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field. 
  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience in managing a team in an industrial setting with at least 3 years in a managerial position.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge/understanding of health and safety issues and codes of practice relevant to product assembly and maintenance management.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in product assembly and operations.
  • Proven record of identifying innovative technical solutions.
  • Quantifiable evidence of reducing production costs.
  • Good knowledge of relevant Workplace Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of operational risk management.
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of materials management, inventory control, configuration analysis, production control, purchasing management, etc.
  • Outstanding planning and organizing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all categories of staff.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Strong managerial, coaching, mentoring and interpersonal skills in a "team" setting.
