Job Description

Our client a trading and distribution company with subsidiaries in other Africa countries is seeking to hire a proactive Marketing Manager to help with their operations in Ghana.

Role Profile

Successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategy jointly with functions and regions, drive and control strategy implementation, define strategic target market segments, as well as operative marketing mix instruments, product portfolio and development measures and communicate respectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing

Strategic tasks

  • Lead business team in the development of customer strategic plans and customer trade strategy
  • Develop channel trade plans and product promotion strategies
  • Participate as a core member of a sales & marketing focused business team, including the development and communication of all corporate and channel objectives
  • Develop customer led new product innovation recommendations as well as changes, improvements or deletions in existing products.
  • Lead new product planning from sales
  • Support field sale in the development of sales programs, sales tools, and deployment of marketing programming
  • Act as a corporate representative of field sales organization to deliver best in class sales growth

Pricing/planning

  • Align local prices with global price policy to define global limit price and margin expectation by product.
  • Responsible for development and execution of market launch concepts for newly developed products.
  • Mid and long-term planning per market segment (sales volume, revenue and profitability). Responsible for agreed sales and profitability targets (budget).

Product Management

  • Conduct global product profit and cost analysis. Continuously compare targets and actual business results.
  • Consolidate regional analysis of markets, competitors, application segments as well as down-stream markets into a global picture.
  • Analyse respective product value chains.
  • Plan demand and mediate, if allocation of products in the respective region is unclear. Consolidate mid-term, global budget plan.
  • Provide guidance on inter-regional product flow.
  • Provide input for product planning processes, plant scheduling.
  • Manage global product portfolio and its complexity, initiate and lead new product development for profitable growth
  • Negotiate and implement global co-manufacturer deals.

  • Coach and develop team members to reach their full potential
  • Support development assignments and movement of talent across units
  • Motivate and challenge to drive high performance
  • Create an inclusive environment which embraces and derives value from diversity
  • Execute performance and career development discussions
  • Establish and support a safety culture in which all accidents are preventable
  • Undertake specific company market projects, as assigned
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing discipline
  • MBA is a plus
  • 5-6 years’ experience in a similar challenging role

 Requirements:

  • Ability to determine the clear and succinct marketing issue and develop recommendations
  • Strong strategic thinking skills
  • Experience in evaluating research and data
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills and team management skills
  • Strong Negotiation and Presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects to deadline
  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership and team player skills
  • Required proficiency in usage of Microsoft office suite (word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Good command of English
