Job Description

  • JOB TITLE: ADMISSIONS OFFICER
  • REPORTING TO: SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (ADMISSIONS)
  • DEPARTMENT: REGISTRY

PURPOSE
The Admissions Officer under the direct supervision of the Senior Assistant Registrar (Admissions) shall be responsible for all the admission issues of the Institute.

Specifically, the Admissions Officer shall;

  • Receive all admission application forms and forward them to the immediate supervisor for processing.
  • Provide all prospective students with the requisite information concerning admission into the institute regarding entry requirements.
  • Do a preliminary review of all admission application forms to ensure that the required information are provided by prospective students before forwarding same to the immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure that all prospective students provide all relevant documents that need to be attached to the admission application forms on submission.
  • Undertake a year round prospecting for students through the implementation of the marketing and advertising strategies of the Institute.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the post admission validation of all admitted students on semester basis.
  • Perform any other duties that will be assigned from time to time

DEPARTMENTAL/INTERNAL RELATIONS

  • Maintains contact with the Receptionist to ascertain the feedback on all adverts, press soirees etc
  • Maintains contact with the Senior Assistant Registrar (Admissions) to ascertain the extent of students’ enrolment 
  • May maintain contact with other members of staff on the way forward for marketing, advertising and modalities for increasing students’ enrolment.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS

  • Maintains contact with media houses for advertisement and marketing purposes
  • Maintains contact with relevant organizations such as Association of Owners of Private Schools, Care Givers Association, Remedial Schools, Informal Workers Associations such as Ghana Union of Traders etc for partnership purposes to increase students’ enrolments etc 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ASSETS
Has responsibility for the utilization of the computers and accessories and other office equipment being used

Required Skills or Experience

COMPETENCIES EDUCATIONAL

  • HND or University Degree in Marketing or its equivalence
  • At least PART1 of a professional qualification in Marketing

TECHNICAL

  • Ability to design and implement marketing policies
  • Knowledge of tertiary educational system in Ghana

PERSONALITY

  • Assertiveness
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to relate well with people at all levels
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to take accurate initiatives without being prompted

MANAGERIAL
Ability to plan, monitor and follow up on policies
