Project Overview
IPA is seeking to hire Team Leaders (TLs) for a maximum of one month i.e. between September-October 2016 to work on “Women and Democracy” project. The survey seeks to find best approaches in addressing social norms in Ghana that constrain the full participation of women in political life and also examine the consequences of increased women's participation in politics. Survey teams will collect data from 6 districts in the Eastern (Abetifi, Birim North, Upper Manya Krobo,) and Central (Mfantseman, Gomoa West and Ajumako Enyan Esiam District) regions of Ghana. The work will require extensive travel within the districts.

IPA would like to recruit Team Leaders to constitute form part of the Women and Democracy project team.

Job Description
The Women and Democracy Team Leader is responsible for managing a survey team and maintaining high quality data collection during our baseline survey.

Responsibilities 
As part of the responsibilities, the Team Leader will: 

  • Supervise all the Surveyors at a field station, manage their work, and ensure that they are all following IPA survey protocols;
  • Distribute respondent gifts to Surveyors each morning;
  • Verify that Surveyors have interviewed the right respondents;
  • Conduct back checking and editing activities of each team using tracking forms accurately and consistently, and give daily updates to the field supervisor;
  • Do frequent and random spot checks in the field in order to monitor surveyors;
  • Report all problems immediately to the Field Manager and field supervisors. 
  • Promptly respond to contact from the IPA Project Field Manager or other IPA staff.
  • Be responsible for maintaining good relations with IPA, its employees, partner organizations and project participants.
  • Perform other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her.

Required Skills or Experience

The Team Leader must satisfy the following requirements: 

  • A diploma or University degree in any field;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Strong oral proficiency and basic grammatical knowledge in any of the following local languages – Dangme, Fante and Twi
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with little or no supervision;
  • Previous experience (at least one year) in any a similar role will be an added advantage;
  • Experience in using technology to collect data on the field is a plus
