Job Description

PURPOSE
Finance Manager will be a strategic thought partner wearing multiple hats! He / She is responsible for directing the operations of the general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions. Under the direction of the Managing Director, this position will be responsible for performing various detailed financial, quantitative, or analytical reviews of the Group’s operations, as well as modeling new revenue generation strategies.

The successful candidate will be a multi-faceted, hands-on and participative manager and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, procurement and payroll service delivery. The FM will play a critical role in supporting the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations

SCOPE OF WORK
Financial Management

  • Prepare and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials and oversee all financial, project accounting. 
  • Manage the company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems; 
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the board of directors 
  • Lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Managing Director; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status. 
  • Manage group cash flow and forecasting. 
  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records. 
  • Develop and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the Group’s overall accounting policy and procedure manual. 
  • Develop financial management mechanisms that minimize financial risk; 
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities; 
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the service billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements. 

Payroll Service Management

  • Support  EmPay  business  development  and  ensure  total  delivery  of  SLA  e.g.  payroll preparation, advisory services to clients etc.
  • Establish and implement the payroll systems to ensure all salary payments are accurate and timely. 
  • Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors. 
  • Develop external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, bankers and statutory organisations such as the Ghana Revenue Authority, SSNIT, Fund Managers etc; 

Procurement & Supply Management

  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures to cover purchases, supplier and vendor management etc. 
  • Manage purchasing and procurement activities including supplier management and ensure value for money. 
  • Develop and implement procedures to manage stock and equipment movement. 
  • Train and develop staff to enable them to use and manage financial and procurement systems. 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum of a BSc. Accounting, Finance or related subjects. An MBA in the aforementioned subjects will be an advantage. 
  • Must be ACCA qualified or equivalent certification. 
  • At least 3 – 5 years of overall professional experience; 2+ years of financial and operations management experience 
  • Demonstrated high-level experience in the implementation of financial and procurement management systems including the ability to set up accounting systems 
  • Demonstrated sound experience and solid practical understanding of Ghanaian tax Laws

  • Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with senior leadership and staff who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds. 
  • Tech savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
