The Governing Council of SDA College of Education. Asokore - Koforidua announces the search for a dynamic, 
innovative, research and business oriented person with proven academic and administrative abilities to be appointed PRINCIPAL The successful applicant shall be expected to assume duty by 1st September, 2017. 

The College has a student population of over 1 ,250 and a staff strength of 94. It has the vision of advancing knowledge in teacher education for sustainable development globally through the integration of faith and learning. Currently, the College offers the Diploma in Basic Education Programme in two areas. namely, General and Early Childhood and is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast. 

The Position:
The College Principal is the chief academic, administrative and disciplinary officer and in that capacity shall. subject to the general direction of the Council of the College, or policies that the Council may give in accordance with the Colleges of Education Act, 2012, Act 847 and harmonised document( for the Colleges of Education: 

• Ensure the implementation of the decision of council; 
• Exercise general authority over staff of the Colleges; 
• Be responsible for: 
  • admission of students. 
  • discipline and supervision of staff and students. 
  • preparation of the annual. estimates of income and expenditure for consideration by Council. 
  • providing Council with returns, reports and other relevant information as required. 

The Person:
As a College with the mission of preparing competent and reflective professional teachers for basic schools, S.D.A 
have good character and high degree of personal integrity and must be at least a Principal Tutor in a College of Education. 
be at least a Deputy Director in the Ghana Education Service or a Senior Lecturer in a recognised University. Possess a research postgraduate degree, preferably the terminal.

College of Education seeks a Principal with outstanding and distinguished academic record, a broad vision of the nature and responsibilities of a public college of education, the capacity to articulate that vision within the college and externally, the ability to formulate policies and programmes to implement that vision in accordance with law, and the administrative competence to implement those policies and programmes. 

The Person should be an individual with exemplary leadership, interpersonal and communication skills,zeal, energy and the capacity for marshalling the resources needed to carry out the College's vision in the 21st century.

TENURE OF OFFICE: The successful applicant should be able to complete at least one term of four (4) years before attaining the compulsory retirement age of 60. 

Required Skills or Experience

Applicants must: 

• Have good character and high degree of personal integrity and must be at least a Principal Tutor in a College of Education. 
• Be at least a Deputy Director in the Ghana Education Service or a Senior Lecturer in a recognised University. 
• Possess a research postgraduate degree, preferably the terminal
• Have at least five (5) years of senior management experience at the tertiary level of education in'" general, with good knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing the Colleges of Education in particular. 
• Exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership and organisation skills, with a capacity to motivate and direct staff. 
• Possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills with capacity to manage and control crisis situation. 
• Be visionary, business-oriented and able to establish rapport between stakeholders in education and the College. 
• Be able to attract grants and funds for Research and Developmental activities for the College. 
• Show some evidence of publications I research articles in relevant peer reviewed journal(s), books and conference proceedings. 
• Must ideally not be more than 55years at the time of the application.
