Job Description

The General Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the industry, including the selection, development and performance management of employees. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary responsibilities include:

General

  • Oversee and manage all areas of our industry and make final decisions on matters of importance to guest service.
  • Farm Management including arable and orchard
  • Land/Field Infrastructure Development and Land Acquisition
  • Business Development including strategy, markets, and product innovation
  • Financial Planning and Review
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Administration
  • PR

Financial

  • Adhere to industries standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including fruit, supply, utility and labor costs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company Handbook.

Fruit safety and planning

  • Enforce sanitary practices for fruit handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of fruit preparation and service.
  • Estimate Fruit costs. Work with Corporate office staff for efficient inventory and purchasing of supplies. Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
  • Estimate fruit needs, schedule the delivery of fresh fruit and supplies.

SPECIFIC  SKILLS

  • Leadership Skills: You will have to keep your employees motivated, resolve conflicts and make hard decisions for your employees.
  • Time Management: You will be working with employees, customers and management. Time management is essential to make sure everything gets done.
  • Budgeting: General managers are expected to create, keep and maintain a budget, as well as make projections based on previous expenditures. You will need to be confident in using math skills to make sure you know where your company's money is going.
  • Analytical Skills: You will be in charge of overseeing the hiring of new employees, and being a good judge of character will help ensure that you hire the right people to maintain an efficient and motivated team. You will also need analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical work day.
  • Decision-Making Skills: The buck stops with you. Whether it is dealing with employees, customers, top executives or vendors, you will have to make decisions that affect the company. Having the ability to make hard and fast decisions is crucial to your success.
  • Speaking and Writing: General Managers do a lot of communicating. This might be in negotiations with contractors, in front of a group of employees, or in a meeting with other management. You might be called upon to write reports and recommendations. Great verbal communications and writing skills will help you in any of these scenarios
  • Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing.
  • Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance.
  • Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that fruit and service meet appropriate standards.
  • Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to problems.
  • Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
  • Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.
