Job Description

 

  • JOB TITLE: Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Manager 
  • JOB STATUS: Part-Time
  • JOB CATEGORY:  Project Development and Management 

NB: He/She will be part of the senior management team, reporting directly to the Program Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research & Advocacy:

  • Identify research opportunities that are related to the technical areas of the organization.
  • Design, implement, and draft various research projects with specific emphasis on legal research and quantitative research.
  • Supervise the implementation of RA research activities studies, programme evaluations and prevalence surveys and ensuring data quality and best practices are adhered to.
  • Identify and meet with community leaders to facilitate their mobilization and empowerment.

Proposal Development, Implementation and Fundraising:

  • Look for and identify sources of possible funding.
  • Draft project proposal and concept notes and ensure timely follow up with donors and potential donors.
  • Oversee the design and implementation process of interventions being implemented by the organisation in its project focus areas. 
  • Review calls for proposals and advice regional office. 

Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Internally monitor and evaluate progress on projects regularly.
  • Lead in ensuring effective planning and reporting for Relief Alliance programme activities, including preparation of high-quality, timely donor reports.
  • Be responsible for setting up the Project’s Performance Monitoring and Evaluation System.
  • Develop appropriate data collection methodologies and tools and undertake regular field monitoring and data collection activities to track progress and impact.
  • Conducts data cleaning, validation and verification of field-level data (identifying concerns).
  • Identify, document and disseminate data and learnings which contribute to good practice or learnings

Required Skills or Experience

  • MSc/MA in Development Studies, International Relations, Business Administration, Social Sciences or Technical ( Public Health, Education) 
  • First Degree preferably in Development Studies, Social Science, Economics, Financial Management, Business Administration or International Relations.
  • Proven one year experience in funding management and/or coordination in an international non-governmental organization is a plus.
  • Sound understanding of Program Cycle Management in development environments.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with and understanding of qualitative and quantitative monitoring & evaluation methodologies that incorporate rigorous statistical methods, impact evaluation, participatory monitoring and evaluation techniques.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing programmes and projects.
  • Strong communications skills required for extensive report and proposal writing
  • Advance experience with Excel, demonstrated skills in statistical analysis and management information systems, Microsoft Office suite Access and other databases formats.
