Job Description

Job Summary
The Construction Superintendent will coordinate all site construction activities and supervise all site personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and field/site personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities. He/she will maintain the job site office and close out projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all site related construction activities.
  • Direct all site personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
  • Maintain construction schedule, identify and solve problems.
  • Order materials (where necessary) and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the process.
  • Understand the project plans, specifications and the system of construction being used.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, vendors and other employees.
  • Prepare, schedules and supervise completion of a final punch list.
  • Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practice and rectify job site hazards immediately.
  • Ensure all workers and contractors on site are adhering to the company safety policy.
  • Maintain an organized job site, including the construction site offices and carries out all other construction duties as may be required of him/her.

Required Skills or Experience

Interested applicants must have a minimum of any of the following;

  • First Degree in Building Technology/Civil Engineering with 8 years working experience
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Building Technology/Civil Engineering with 10 years working experience
  • Construction Technician Certificate (CTC) Part III with 15 years working experience

Preferred Skills and Competences

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to others involved in a project.
  • Ability to delegate tasks to those capable of completing them, or assign workers to oversee areas of a project.
  • Must be able to evaluate progression and adherence to deadlines on a routine basis. 
  • Must have problem solving skills by considering potential problems faced in a project. Come up with solutions to problems.
  • Create an environment of teamwork and willingness to help co-workers.
