Job Description

Role Purpose :  

  • The BAM assists the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to deliver strategic decision making as the Head of Operations of the Group.
  • This position coordinates, analyses, consolidates, and presents professional and confidential reports on behalf of the COO.
  • It also undertakes business performance analysis and reporting, budgeting, monitoring, investment evaluation, decision support, risk management, and leads human capital development and brand management.   
  • It also communicates to a wide network of stakeholders involving the Group Office, Subsidiaries, Boards, as well as external contacts.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Implementation

  • Assist the COO and the Chief Strategy Officer in the formulation and the monitoring of the Group Strategy.

Projects and Processing

  • Liaise with the Group Strategy Team to identify emerging opportunities and connect with research units to support the investment strategy of the Group.
  • Critique and monitor investments by reviewing historical performance and valuation models, participating in due diligence, mitigating credit risk, and tapping specialist help to protect the Group assets, capex, and equity portfolio.  
  • Benchmark results against industry best in class performers

Administration and Monitoring

  • Assist the COO in communicating and delegating tasks from the Group Board of Directors and the Executive Chairman to the Heads of Subsidiary Companies and Heads of Support Functions at the Group Office.  The BAM interfaces with stakeholders to challenge information and steer discussions to optimize shareholder returns.
  • Collect and collate data, analyze, and prepare reports and dashboards to enable the COO to formulate strategies and decisions.
  • Monitor performance, identify warning signals, and advise the Subsidiaries of emerging trends or exceptions to delivery.  Lead the identification and coordination of interventions to address gaps.
  • Ensure the adherence of Subsidiaries to timely and accurate report submissions; make follow-ups to synchronize deadlines and meet expectations.
  • Alert stakeholders of material variances, non-compliances, unexpected developments, and covenant breaches.

Data and Maintenance

  • Coordinate Group Office functions and drive towards complete database (legal, contracts, approvals)
  • Design a project repository with the Strategy and Legal departments that includes a transaction covenant alert and assurance system.

Project Review

  • Perform annual project reviews, collate learning, and share to the post-implementation forum.
  • Perform other tasks assigned and reflected in the incumbent’s work plan or as assigned by the COO.  

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Finance, Marketing, Project Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics or related field. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with specialisation in any of the above fields is an advantage.
  • Minimum eight years relevant working experience with at least five in a related role or its equivalent.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office, Project Management software and other research software/tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Good analytical thinking with the ability to comprehend causal links, make pros and cons analysis, and analyse factors to reach a decision.  
  • Effective communication, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Team player with strong networking across all levels in the organization
  • Possesses high integrity and sensitivity to confidential information.
