Job Description

Maintain oversight of the Sales and Marketing Department, formulating and implementing sales and marketing strategies to maximize or improve sales as needed.

   Account Management

  • Monitor and ensure all domestic and international orders are processed and delivered in a timely manner
  • Regularly meet and form productive business relationships with distributors and wholesalers
  • Use relationships with key accounts to collect market information and customer feedback
  • Manage sales accounts and strive to exceed customer satisfaction

   Sales Goals

  • Ensure that the Company meets at least 85% of the export and local sales targets every month
  • Drive sales by identifying opportunities and taking appropriate action to address issues and challenges promptly and efficiently
  • Allocate tasks to sales team appropriately in order to meet sales goals
  • Agree on monthly sales goals with senior management, analyse trends then take appropriate action
  • Review sales goals weekly and monthly, communicate to staff and management as needed

   Sales and Marketing Team

  • Recruit, hire, train and develop a motivated, professional and productive Sales and Marketing Team
  • Ensure HR, company policies, procedures, and processes are being followed
  • Evaluate and review Sales and Marketing Team members and support their training and development needs
  • Coach team members on product knowledge through product training on a regular basis
  • Organize a marketing and sales team event at least twice a year to share best practice amongst the team and provide continued professional development

Printed Communications

  • Work with external designers to produce flyers, stickers, pens and other TAMA promotional materials
  • Work with designer on billboard and print media designs and liaise with agencies for booking advertising
  • Produce banner stands and tablecloths for representation of the TAMA brand at trade fairs
  • Liaise with external designer on design for business cards, letter heads, labels for deliveries and packaging (see below)
  • Produce banners, signboards and stickers to brand company building and vehicles

Packaging

  • Work with the General Manager and Production Manager to introduce the new branded packaging materials to current and new markets 
  • Liaise with designer to provide all necessary information for the packaging of all products and any new products
  • Work with the General Manager, Production Manager and Sales Manager to plan the timing and strategy for the introduction of any new products into the market 

Events

  • Coordinate and organising the company’s representation at events or exhibitions – this may require attending the event or liaising with a representative to ensure that they have everything they need to adequately promote Products
  • Maintain and update a marketing activities database which includes budget required for each activity to be presented to the Finance Manager at quarterly planning meetings
  • Plan and implement a weekly and monthly events calendar and prepare well in advance for each event
  • Develop systems and checklists for event organization and management to assure efficiency and value for company resources
  • Identify any appropriate networking opportunities and promote the brand appropriately
  • Ensure that each event is properly monitored/reviewed and that there is a report evaluating the event available for future reference
  • Support attendance at/attend the annual Global Shea Alliance conference
  • Liaise with service providers where applicable to organize and/or host sales events

External Relations

  • Ensuring that corporate communications are planned, well timed and professional
  • Assist the General Manager in developing the company’s public profile
  • Be a Spokesperson and Ambassador for the company and the brand
  • Act as the main point of contact for SeKaf and marketing
  • Develop and maintain, where appropriate and in agreement with the General Manager effective lines of communication between SeKaf and external stakeholders

  Advertising and Publicity

  • Build and maintain a list of press contacts useful to company
  • Write and distribute press releases when appropriate
  • Contact journalists directly with ideas for stories
  • Create radio adverts and LPM or work with external contacts to create adverts and jingles
  • Liaise with radio stations and agencies for the booking of radio advertisements
  • Liaise with print media to place adverts
  • Explore advertising channels such as event sponsorship and billboards for key areas
  • Liaise with graphic designer and print houses for printed materials 

Internal Communications

  • As part of management group, input into and help to coordinate the implementation of the company’s business plan
  • Write the marketing section of the company’s monthly report to be submitted to the board
  • Share ideas and best practice with members of the management team and board where necessary
  • Contribute to and organise group workshops where appropriate
  • Responsible for all sales and marketing electronic files and original design files on server

Customer Communications

  • Develop a programme of regular customer communications by email, including monthly newsletter
  • Develop and maintain high standards of email communication to customers, ensuring that appropriate messages and signatures are applied to all communications
  • Ensure that quarterly communications about price list and any important updates are used for marketing purposes
  • Ensure that that customer enquiries through the sales email, telephone or in person are dealt with rapidly and professionally by the Front Office Sales Assistant.

Market Development

  • Contribute to market research studies and resulting analysis
  • Summarise market research findings and make recommendations for action to be taken
  • Facilitate effective business links with both local and international markets
  • Contribute to new and existing product development and marketing of new products in order to meet the needs of the market

Business Development 

  • Identify new sales opportunities and ways of selling products
  • Help to establish a micro-distribution scheme and network to promote 
  • Maintain and update detailed customer lists for account management/marketing purposes
  • Monitor and review marketing action plans and strategies and advise and report back to senior management

Working Relationships

As well as line management responsibilities, the Marketing Manager will work with:

  • Senior management and management team
  • Sales and marketing staff
  • Office-based dispatch and logistics staff
  • Finance and production departments

Perform any other tasks assigned by the General Manager and/or Board of Directors

Required Skills or Experience

  • Education/Experience: Post-graduate degree in sales and marketing preferred, or an equivalent professional qualification/experience. A minimum of 5 years experience of planning and implementing sales and marketing strategies for brands that reach outside of Ghana, cosmetics experience preferred. Experience in international marketing.
  • Key Skills: Strong leadership profile and excellent marketing skills. Ability to build partnerships and manage teams. Demonstrated ability to empower, motivate, and develop a team. Ability to develop and execute plans and strategies. Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Ability to anticipate and solve problems. Knowledge of key media companies in Ghana.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate to the Ghanaian and international audience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Expertise in forming strong professional relationships and ability to persuade.
  • Language: Professionally fluent in English (written and verbal), French language an advantage.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to effectively plan and execute strategies. Effective prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the internet. Commitment to exemplifying the highest integrity and professional business standards. Must be a creative thinker.

Work Hours: Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the Company’s needs.
