Job Description

  • Developing and maintaining team identity by encouraging effective team work through flexible working practice within the team for the achievement of profitability and productivity.
  • Checking incoming drugs from the store as well as expiry dates before and after taking stock at the pharmacy.
  • Dispensing drugs from the Medical Officer to patients and nurses, to the various wards and treatment rooms, paying particular attention to the issuance of right drugs and dosage.
  • Ensuring that all private patients pay bills and are issued with the appropriate receipts/stamps.
  • Managing the Pharmacy and reporting faults timely to the General Services /
  • Logistics for appropriate actions.
  • Taking monthly stocks and updating the records accordingly.
  • Helping to develop effective goals and systems of stock control at the pharmacy.
  • Performing miscellaneous jobs as assigned by your Boss for productivity.
  • Building rapport with patients in order to win their confidence and trust (good customer relations)
  • Serving prescription-only-medicines (both sales and with National Health
  • Insurance prescriptions) – the latter requires acquaintance with the various medications enlisted on the NHIS Medicines’ List, as well as sale of over-the counter (OTC) medicines.
  • Patient counselling in relation to some general knowledge on certain disease conditions, non-pharmacological approaches to disease management (notably lifestyle modifications, diet etc.), side effects of medications, their administration and dosage regimens, good storage, rational medicine use and compliance.
  • To report all identified maintenance issues promptly.
  • To ensure that patients’ records are kept up-to-date at all times to guide the work of doctors.
  • Perform any other miscellaneous duties as may be directed by management.

  • Broad knowledge of MOH/GHS policies and operating procedures
  • Broad knowledge of health and management related issues
