Job Description

A Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) and a subsidiary of a multinational company. The Company has vacancies for highly motivated individuals with high integrity and a passion to succeed for hiring as: Business Loan Officer

  • Report To:  Retail Sales Manager / Branch Manager
  • Location: The Jobs are based in Accra, Takoradi, Tamale, Techiman, and Nkawkaw

 

Purpose of the Job

  • The role holder will be responsible for driving sales of the Micro and SME Loan products within the branch.
  • Scope of responsibility spans marketing Micro Loan and SME, loan appraisal, collections, relationship and portfolio management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for driving sales of Micro and SME loan products and ensuring that sales targets are met
  • Responsible for growing the Micro and SME loan Portfolio under his/her Management
  • Responsible for leveraging market insight and customer insight to input into product development to ensure our products are competitive and attractive to clients
  • Develop and grow business and customer relationships by proactively identifying new opportunities for further expansion of the business
  • Initiate effective demand generation and channel marketing in local area
  • Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Evaluate customer records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity
  • Complete loan applications, including credit analyses and summaries of loan requests, and submit to loan committees for approval.
  • Review loan portfolio files to identify and select delinquent accounts for collection
  • Ensure all customer complaints are resolved timeously and conclusively
  • Ensure all customer requests are processed in fast and accurate manner
  • Ensure all compliance and regulatory requirements are satisfied at all times
  • Take part in all annual mandatory refresher training organized by Compliance
  • Report all suspicious or fraudulent activities to Compliance or via whistle-blowing channels
  • Ensure all controls are followed to protect the bank from unnecessary risk and exposure
  • Abide by the company’s information security policies and procedures
  • Safeguard the company’s information assets in accordance with its ISMS policies and procedures

Required Skills or Experience

Formal Education and Certification
Minimum first degree from a recognized university. A post-graduate degree and/or a professional qualification will be an advantage

Knowledge and Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a banking environment with hands-on experience in product sales and credit analysis.  

Competencies Required (Skills & Abilities 

  • Deep understanding of the Ghanaian MSME landscape and MSME banking products and services 
  • Good communication, presentation and inter personal skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access)
  • Ability to self-organize and think in both innovative and structured ways 
  • Good problem solving skills
