Job Description

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate shall manage all commercial, business development and operational matters relating to labour supply.

  • Responsible for the managing of all operations within the country on behalf of the Company
  • Responsible for comprehensive market sizing, development and execution of annual plans to capture and increase our client base and profit
  • Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization
  • Ensure that the operation of the organisation meets the expectations of its clients, staff and the Board.
  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization
  • Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate
  • Ensure that personnel and client files are securely stored and privacy/confidentiality is maintained
  • Provide support to the Board by preparing meeting agenda and supporting materials
  • Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board
  • Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
  • Develop client database to build and win potential business for the Company
  • Work with staff and the Board (Finance Committee) to prepare a comprehensive budget
  • Participate with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organisation
  • Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the organisation
  • Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Director on all aspects of the organisation's activities
  • Foster effective team work between the Board and staff
  • In addition to the Chair of the Board, act as a spokesperson for the organisation
  • Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropriate and jointly with the Board when appropriate
  • Represent the organisation at public activities to enhance the organization's community profile

Required Skills or Experience

The successful candidate must have;

  • A good first degree and a relevant Master's degree from a reputable university
  • A Relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage but not required
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing people
  • Experience in labour related issues
  • Experience in collective bargaining     
  • An understanding of the Maritime industry will be a plus
