Job Description

Central University, a Chartered Christian University invites applications from suitably qualified and competent professionals to fill the vacant position of Senior Assistant Registrar (Human Resources Directorate).

Job Expectations: Reporting To The Deputy Registrar (Director)
The job holder will:

  • Assist the Deputy Registrar/Director to deliver multiple HR solutions to the University and must therefore be knowledgeable in the whole range of HR functions with deep hands-on-experience.
  • Be responsible for the entire HR planning and resourcing process.
  • Supervise the administration of the performance management system.
  • Assist in the supervision of HR staff across the University.
  • Oversee the compensation and benefit administration scheme of the University.
  • Oversee Learning and Development functions within the University.
  • Coordinate all HR operations.
  • Provide advice to Senior Officials through the Deputy Registrar and spearhead the introduction of HR Business Partner arrangements across the University.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Applicant must be a mature, seasoned and experienced HR Professional capable of providing business solutions to multiple stakeholders in a fast paced environment.
  • Candidates must therefore have:
    • Postgraduate degree in HRM from a recognized University
    • Between 8-10 years post graduate experience operating at the strategic level within an HR environment
    • Professional certification would be an advantage
    • Work Experience in a tertiary educational environment will be an added advantage

Competencies
The successful applicant should have:

  • A thorough understanding of HR systems, procedures, policies and practical engagement in HR environment at both the tactical and strategic management levels;
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of national labour policies, legal and regulatory regime affecting labour management relations;
  • Policy formulation and development relation to HR operations and other HR activities;
  • Strong computer literacy and familiarity with any HR software
  • Highly developed ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management;
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
