Job Description

Our client, a telecommunication company currently operating in Accra is looking to hire an experienced and proactive Senior Accountant to help with their operations.

Role Objective

Will be expected to ensure work is achieved to support the strategic plan of the Finance Department and make suggestions to improve the operations of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work undertaken complies with company policy and financial laws.
  • Guarantee high quality of internal administration, filing and traceability of all documents to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
  • Produces payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, verifying finished product. Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
  • Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.

Journal Entries

  • Supervises and coordinate the operations of the Accounts Payable (e.g. cash and cheques) in order to ensure that all payments are made on time and ensure its proper documentation.
  • Performs reconciliation functions pertaining to the cash advance account, general ledger accounts, and various expenditure items and accounts.
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
  • Enter all local purchases in the accounting system
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups.
  • Issue sales bills on all customer purchases on monthly basis
  • Monitor and follow-up how the customer accounts are closed as per the purchase request and customer agreement contract.
  • Summarizes financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other

statements.

Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparation of internal and external financial reports
  • Assist with the preparation of accounts analysis, vehicle purchase versus sales
  • Prepare and generate tax reports.

  • Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting/Finance)
  • Professional membership in accounting/finance will be an added advantage

Experience

  • 3-5 years minimum experience in accounting position.
  • Significant experience playing a similar role.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Competent with Facts and Figures
  • Experience in Visual Dolphin & Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
  • Proficient in relevant accounting software
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
  • Must be proactive and possess strong leadership qualities
