Job Description

  • Job Title:    SME Sales Manager
  • Report To:  Branch Manager
  • Location: The Jobs are based in Accra & Nkawkaw

 

Purpose of the Job
The role holder will be responsible for driving the profitable and sustainable growth of the SME portfolio. Scope of responsibility spans managing Relationship Officers, product sales, and loan book quality. 

Key Accountabilities

Sales and Business Development 

  • Responsible for driving sales of SME products and ensuring that sales targets are met
  • Responsible for the daily tracking and monitoring of sales performance of Relationship Officers
  • Responsible for leveraging market insight and customer insight to input into product development to ensure our products are competitive and attractive to clients 
  • Develop and grow business and customer relationships by proactively identifying new opportunities for further expansion of the business
  • Lead the sales team to formulate, implement and review monthly marketing plans, including sales promotion activities to proactively identify new opportunities and increase sales
  • Coordinate initiatives for effective demand generation and channel marketing in local area

People Management and Capacity Building 

  • Coach Relationship Officers to ensure they are well equipped to sell our products
  • Communicate company policies (e.g. on Credit, Quality Assurance, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.) and directives to staff and ensure full compliance always
  • Ensure regular and punctual attendance to work by Relationship Officers and insist on strict adherence to company policies, rules and regulations
  • Attend information sharing and training sessions regularly and transfer knowledge to Relationship Officers
  • Manage Relationship Officer attrition rates within acceptable limits on an ongoing basis 
  • Facilitate regular team meetings focused on sales, service and product training
  • Conduct performance appraisals and disciplinary hearings as required 

Customer Experience

  • Ensure Relationship Officers deliver excellent customer service to customers always
  • Ensure all customer complaints are resolved timeously and conclusively 
  • Ensure all customer requests are processed in fast and accurate manner

Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure all compliance and regulatory requirements are satisfied always 
  • Take part in all annual mandatory refresher training organized by Compliance
  • Report all suspicious or fraudulent activities to Compliance or via whistle-blowing channels
  • Ensure all controls are followed to protect the bank from unnecessary risk and exposure

Required Skills or Experience

Formal Education and Certification
Minimum first degree from a recognized university. A post-graduate degree and/or a professional qualification will be an advantage

Knowledge and Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a banking environment with hands-on experience in product sales, credit management, business development and people management 

Competencies Required (Skills & Abilities)

  • Deep understanding of the Ghanaian MSME landscape and MSME banking products and services 
  • Good communication, presentation, team building, coaching and inter personal skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access)
  • Ability to self-organize and think in both innovative and structured ways 
  • Good problem solving skills
