Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • S/He will organise and manage the administration, support systems and activities that keep an educational institution running smoothly.
  • S/He will work in the areas of admissions, quality assurance, finance, careers, marketing and human resources.

Job Description:

  • Have oversight responsibility for all aspects of the educational program, policy and planning initiatives
  • Work with educational committees and advisory groups within the community to come up with the most appropriate curricula to meet the needs of the students.
  • Serve as advisory role by supporting teachers, school administrators and provide training in the use of educational materials and techniques.
  • Advise board of directors on how to comply with local, district and governmental standards, as well as work closely with school boards to apply the board's rules and regulations.
  • Research, direct and evaluate the curricula, teaching procedures and educational materials within the educational system as required per state law.
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance, including curricula evaluation and approval procedures
  • Research, select textbooks, and design of educational materials and instructional methods for the teaching staff.
  • Mentor new teachers, teaching workshops or seminars and observing teachers in the classroom.
  • Work on committees including academic boards, governing bodies and task groups
  • Use information systems and prepare reports and statistics for internal and external use; contributing to policy and planning
  • Supervise and liaise with other administrative staff, academic colleagues, and teachers to facilitate a variety of educational or social activities.
  • Communicate with partner institutions, other institutions, external agencies, government departments and prospective students

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must possess requisite educational background and knowledge related to Education, Education Leadership, Education Law, Policy Implementation and Education Research.
  • Demonstrated knowledge as a result of study, training or practical experience in Education, Administration, Human Resources Management and other related humanities courses.
  • Proven progressive experience as an educationalist or education director professional in similar management and senior management roles
  • Experience and understanding of participatory approaches to education
  • Knowledge of effective participatory monitoring, evaluation and research systems and processes
  • Exceptional conceptual and strategic thinking skills
  • Comfortable with taking timely decisions based on consultation and sound judgment in situations where information may be incomplete
  • Ability to provide leadership, communicate effectively and build high performance teams in support of achievement of organizational objectives
  • Strong team-building and motivational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including for presentation and public speaking
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Solid experience in resource mobilization with a variety of donors
  • Numeracy and the ability to interpret financial data in order to provide management support to budgetary processes, including planning, monitoring and reporting
  • Proficient in computer skills and in use of relevant software and other applications
  • S/He must not be less than 50 years
  • Must possess a minimum of 20 years’ experience in related field
