Project Manager - EU Grant: Promoting and Protecting Child Rights In Ghana

OAfrica is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the implementation of a two-year project funded by the European Union (EU).

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall implementation, administration, management, reporting and general technical direction of the EU-funded program within Ghana working closely with our project partner; The Department of Children (DOC). The overall objective of the project is to promote child rights for the most vulnerable children and to enhance child participation in the implementation of their rights.

Our ideal candidate will have significant exposure to institutional grants; preferably with projects funded by the EU. You will have a great eye for detail, and a strong ability to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders while ensuring project delivery on time and on budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager provides regular updates to OAfrica on the deliverables and project status as well as providing general project, finance and budget oversight, along with staff and resource management within the project scope. This person is the key contact point in this project and will coordinate the DOC and provide feedback to OAfrica.

  • Manage the implementation of the overall project
  • Report project activities in accordance with the donor agreement
  • Develop full scale project plans
  • Plan and implement the activities to achieve the greatest impact possible
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the project staff and project partners
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the support services such as finance, administration, logistic to ensure proper financial management systems.
  • If required, represent the project and the organization publicly, at both the national and local level as well as EU/international level.
  • Support the technical implementation of the communication strategy
  • implement and manage project feedback, indicators, and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Ensure that lessons learned from this project are effectively documented and communicated

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Development or Business preferred)
  • 3+ years project management experience including implementation and oversight of donor-funded development programs.
  • Knowledge and experience with regulations, administrative and financial procedures related to EU grants and development projects.
  • Solid management, coordination and relationship-building skills across a variety of stakeholders and constituencies, both internal and external.
  • Experience with marketing and communications campaigns, traditional and online media knowledge an advantage.
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Strong communication skills as well as problem solving, analysis, decision-making and negotiation
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.
  • Willing to travel nationally.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience specifically with advocacy, awareness-raising,
  • Master's degree or other qualification in project management

  • Qualification in project management or equivalent
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
