Job Description

Reports to: Northern Zonal Manager

  • The Programmes Manager (PM) will be the team leader for the implementation of all project activities of the organization. The PM will offer technical direction, coordination, capacity building support and evaluation for the effective implementation of the project activities.
  • He/she will also support sub recipients and direct field staff with the assistance of the Programme Coordinator (PC).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Superintend over the planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on all activity areas of the project.
  • Manage the implementation of all activities on the project work plan
  • Report project activities in accordance with donor requirement in collaboration with M&E
  • Provides strategic direction to support the Programme Coordinator, field officers and other partners at the community level in implementing activities
  • Provide technical direction for the project with the aim of eliminating inefficiencies along key stages of project implementation
  • Provide oversight responsibility in resource mobilization for projects for the organization
  • Lead in development strategic alliances and collaborations with other NGOs programmes and government agencies in the implementation of project activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with partners and other stakeholders at the regional and national levels
  • He/she will support supervisees  with annual work plan development; development of the performance monitoring plans ; drafting and review of quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports
  • Ensure that lessons learned from the project are effectively documented and communicated
  • Implement and manage project feedback, indicators and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Support the implementation of a robust M&E system to track performance periodically
  • Performs other duties and undertakes other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Northern Zonal Manager, Deputy Country manager and country project manager

Required Skills or Experience

  • Master’s degree in Development Studies, Adult Education, Social Sciences OR Community Development
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in project management in a comparable organization
  • She/he should be proactive in designing new strategies to improve performance
  • Skills in capacity building and effective communication
  • Computer literate and ability to use project management software will be added advantage.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to develop well written, cohesive reports that are responsive to the donors’ needs
